Fantastic holidayPosted Nov 26, 2015
Pros: Location, rooms, views
Cons: Food ok but nothing special.
Location: Great location, quiet but nowhere is more than 30 minutes drive away. Taxis are well regulated and inexpensive.
Stayed at The Verandah for 11 nights in November with friends. Cannot fault the resort, everything was excellent, book a Waterside suite if you can, we had one of the best locations in the whole resort and the view from the verandah was stunning. Beaches are great, well worth the short walk to Long Bay, the sea there is so clear and beautiful. only criticism would be the charge for a courtesy room on your last day if you have a late flight home, have never been charged for this before and we have traveled a lot. Definitely recommend a round island catamaran trip, great day out with snorkelling and lunch included.

Spent three nights here as a birthday treat.Posted Nov 19, 2015
Pros: The layout of the resort, none of the rooms overlooked anyone else so you could sit on the veranda without having to wave at the neighbour.
Cons: The beds!
Location: Very out of the way, nothing within easy reach really except Long Bay beach just down the road. Anything else would have to be booked as a trip/tour.
Loved the layout of the resort, very peaceful. The choice of the buffet restaurant over the others was the best as had the most variety of food, which was varied and tasty. The roast beef on the carvery was simply the best we had ever eaten. We had our own car otherwise would have been stuck at the resort unless opting to go on a day trip. There are only two small beaches and one just outside the resort down the road which can get busy but I think is the better beach. My only gripe with the whole place was the bed - the sheets were scratchy and didn't fit properly and the bed was a bit hard which was a shame as otherwise I'd have said it was pretty much perfect. We went on the trip to Stingray City which was brilliant. The lifts to and from reception were good but sometimes had to wait a while. Overall a nice place, well kept and okay for a few days but wouldn't want to stay longer.

Cons: Adult Pool open until 10 or 11pm
The Verandah is wonderful overall. Room is nice and clean and bed is comfy and food is good. You must eat at Nicole's for a small up-charge at least once...it was Fantastic!! The massage and extreme speed boat tour around the island are a must too. There are stairs down to the main beach, but there is a second smaller beach close to the lobby. My only complaint at all is we were there during several of the hottest days on record and out of two pools and beaches, none are open past 6pm and you are not allowed to sit or walk out on the beach after dark. I would have enjoyed it a lot more to be able to sit and swim at least at the Adult Only Pool until 10 or 11pm to stay cool in the evening. All in all, a wonderful stay and would choose again!!! *****

Nice resortPosted Sep 28, 2015
Pros: Staff working reception and housekeeping very friendly
Cons: Implement a mandatory customer service training workshop for entire staff. Specializing in hospitality.
Location: We stayed at the resort pretty much of the time expect for the wedding we attended on Saturday. We walked to Devil's Bridge.
The workers at the reception area were just gems, but unfortunately I cannot say the same for the staff at Seabreeze restaurant and the pool bar. They really need to take a customer service training class that shows them how they are to treat all guest. I did not appreciate the treatment from these groups of people. I retired from the customer service field and would never have treated my customers like they treated my husband and myself. I know that we would not be returning again.

Very laid backPosted Jun 25, 2015
Cons: Need a stage, better entertainment. More things to do. Step up the menu. Have a swim up bar. Better selection of liquor.
Location: Town was 30 minutes and an extra 50 dollars to get their.zipline was 90 plus 80 for the cab. everything was extra .
Not very much to do. Advertise a forest their wasn't a forest. Entertainment was mediocre.food was just ok nothing special. Anything extra besides swimming was an additional cost unlike other all inclusive's. Probably will not go back.

Great staff, lovely resort.Posted May 28, 2015
Pros: The staff were excellent and made you feel that your enjoyment was important to them, full marks. Grounds well kept despite the long drought.
Cons: More sunloungers at the Adult Pool. More umbrellas available around the Main Pool.
Location: On the Atlantic coast which means the beaches and were not the same quality as the Caribean side.
Guest services deserve a special mention - could not have been more helpful and professional. Waterfront suite just as described with the balcony overlooking the main beach - wonderful. Only slight disappointment was the Seabreeze buffet which became a little tedious after a few days, however the staff were brilliant and the breakfast selection was great. Always a great selection of fruit and salads. The beach bar was a good alternative with sublime views over the main beach.

A Little Slice of ParadisePosted May 11, 2015
Pros: Beautiful setting, great beaches, friendly staff.
Cons: They need to put a second convenience store near the Main Pool and offer an upgraded wine selection option. Travel on the island can be challenging.
Location: If it has to do with the ocean, Antigua has it.
We found the Verandah to be a very pleasant and relaxing experience. The setting was beautiful, the staff friendly and responsive, and the amenities were well above average. It is a large property that has been well designed and laid out, but you will need to be prepared to walk or wait for shuttles to travel from the main pool and restaurants to the adult beach or lobby/convenience shop. The food was generally good but won't win any critical acclaim, though there were a few items we enjoyed. The wine selections were below par and we often wished we could have had more and better choices. This is an excellent location for families with children and those that don't mind having children around most of the time. There are three locations(beach, pool, and bars) that are adult only so you can find peace and quiet. The rooms are spacious and comfortable in a beach house style(all tile floors) but the sound proofing isn't good so hope for quiet neighbors. You do share only one wall. There are plenty of activities(water sports, tennis, volleyball, pool, ping pong) to keep you occupied depending on your tastes. They surprisingly have one of the best miniature golf courses we have seen, which was good for hours of diversion. There are also many other activities available on the island which are easy to arrange through guest services. We would definitely recommend the Verandah if you are looking for a family friendly all inclusive. The location can be breezy.
