Loved the ability to walk into the beach, sunrises on the ocean were great! I actually found myself in the area needing a place to work from and it was perfect good WiFi for zoom calls and great food onsite as well as restaurants in walking distances Staff was wonderful too!

Loved the beach. Room very nice except for loud AC. Pool area very nice but chased away by loud unpleasant music. Were charged $20 a night to park on site.

Absolute worst hotel staff I have ever dealt with. Room was dirty. Somebody else’s dirty tray outside the door. The front desk staff member was extremely rude. I have never dealt with a worse staff member of a hotel. This is the first review I’ve ever left on a hotel or restaurant but I felt it was warranted. Terrible, absolutely terrible staff member and facility. Stay away.

I would like to let you know that the only pet friendly hotels on the island are Summer Sands Suites and Waterway lodge. The Blockade Runner was beautiful, well maintained, clean, and most importantly, right on the beach, The staff members were professional, and friendly. Check-in and check-out process went smoothly. I would recommend this property to others.

We really liked the thoughtfulness of how the place is laid out and the option for being outside and not being in the beach. The green area and pool/hot tub facilities were great. Everything is top notch. It would be nice if there was some complimentary food/beverages and free parking included in the price.

The property is old and it shows. The rooms were clean but have no noise reduction. We could hear the TV's in other rooms, and every person who walked in the hallway. There was valet parking but we were constantly hunting down the valets when we needed our car. The outside bar was nice but was not sufficiently stocked to serve the drinks on the menu.

2nd time staying at blockade runner. Room was not fully cleaned. Food was left in mini fridge from previous guests, floors not swept fully. Only other concern was having to take cold showers. The water would not get warm. Especially between 5 to 7pm. Did not have these issues on our previous stay.

We’ve been here a few times for a quick weekend. Love the back grounds of this resort. The grounds are beautiful in the summer and Michel at the poolside bar is great! Great beach access. Wish there was a coffee shop in the lobby and less noise with the AC system in the rooms.. Looks like they’ve done SOME remodeling of the rooms but they still need some TLC. Overall, a great quick spot for a beach weekend.

The staff was amazing! Even though the hotel was old it’s still very clean and comfortable. Absolutely love the grounds!!! Can’t rave enough about the staff and the grounds! Pro tip: floor 7 seems to have been remodeled, I would probably request that floor next time. We had friends staying there, we stayed on 4th. Catch the sunset across the street! They own the property and the seating on the sound is so relaxing.

It has been about a decade since my family and I last stayed at the Blockade Runner.We knew that since our last visit the hotel had been remodeled.I was very disappointed in the remodel that took place.I actually felt the hotel was more charming and in better condition ten years ago than it was this week. Our room had an amazing view, but the windows were dirty, the door to the bathroom did not close all the way, there was an odd window connecting the bathroom to the bedroom that was blocked with a paper blind, the walls are paper thin (we could hear everything that was happening next door and in the hallway)...I could go on, but suffice to say, we will not be returning. It's just too pricey for what we got.

While this is an older hotel, it has been updated nicely. Outside areas great, lots of gathering spots. Only disappointment was that our room did not have balcony. It wasn’t clear that there were two types of ocean front rooms. Balcony (100$ more! ) or no balcony. Price already expensive. Staff excellent, very courteous and helpful.

On beautiful Wrightsville Beach, walking distance between the two piers and several restaurants, this iconic hotel has been well maintained. There couldn’t be a more pleasant place to enjoy the beautiful beach which has been widened and cleaned in a successful reclamation project.

Beds need updating. After a long travel you just want a comfortable place to lay your body. TV kept freezing. Those are my only recommendations. Staff is sweet and very helpful.

Great beach view from our room. Room was musty, you could see that the the ventilation filter hadn't been changed in ages. Bathroom had mold around the shower base, all you could get was warm water, accesories in the bathroom were rusted and the wallpaper was stained. They charge you $19 to use the motel parking lot and restaurant prices are beyond normal markups. If you want ice in your room they have to bring it to you which never arrived.
