Staff was friendly, especially those working the breakfast area. Property was older and in need of refurbishing in many areas. But some areas like the lobby and breakfast area have been renovated. Overall good value for the price we paid.

We planned a trip to NC from VA to spend time with family for new years. When we arrived the staff was no where to be found at the front desk. We finally received service and were given our keys to our room. The room had a different smell , which reminded me of febreeze to cover up smoke smell. On the day of leaving I found a bug crawling on our belongings. I let the staff know but only a ticket was put in to maintenance.

The room was not clean. There was an odor of marijuana throughout the 2nd floor. Lots of unsavory characters on the premises. Water was turned off to the hotel at 08:00AM Would not recommend it. Certainly not the standard I've come to expect from this chain.

This property charged us a $100 security deposit that was refundable, as we were told. We merely slept in the room, left no damage. We never got our security deposit back. Upon contacting the hotel several times, the staff was extremely rude and unhelpful. I understand that it was not there money that has lost, but they took the money and should be responsible for the refund. I have contacted my bank and filed a dispute. My bank said the money was never released back to them. So where is the money?? I would not recommend this property.

No hot water!!! For 2 of the 3 days we did not have any water. We were told they would do a check and move us but we never heard back and assumed it was fixed. Unfortunately it was not. The first night we got bites all over, found bed bugs and the receptionist offered another room. Changing rooms in the middle of the night with sleeping kids and having to get up early in the morning made our stay really terrible. The guy at the check in and the lady in the middle of the night were trying to be helpful. Also, the tv in the 1st room with bedbugs was not working, they gave us a different remote which wasn’t working either. We are very disappointed with our stay.

Room price not backed up by property standard
Staff were friendly and helpful. Breakfast was around par for an included type one and had a good selection. Properly has seen better days and a revamp is desperately required. Carpets were badly stained in common areas on our floor and our room left our bare feet dirty. Bathroom door closer was disconnected from door frame and floating. Staff member indicated they had heard talk of an upgrade in the future but wait and see, Our room was slightly musty smelling but suspect this was due to wet carpet under HVAC unit. Found the temperature setting was 60F which is too cold and likely caused loud fan noise initially heard, which leads to suspicion of possible icing up. This is typical in high humidity environments. Obviously not draining all moisture outside properly. After raising temperature the loud noise dissipated but musty smell still there, as carpet still drying out. Hot water was merely a rumour. It was never better than luke warm regardless of time of day. Pillows were what seems to be standard American and small and low, which might suit some people but not us. We asked for extra which were supplied. Pool was out of service due to rain damage to electrical equipment from recent hurricane but staff we’re working on this so no negative comments here. They did have a notice advising this on reception entry and indicated if this affected people they could cancel reservation etc.

The property would not let me stay because I was a local that had an address on my ID that was less than 25 miles from the facility. I asked him to refund my money to Expedia and they said they did now my money has been taken and I need a place to stay tonight.

We apologize for your experience but our policy states that we Do Not accommodate locals that reside within a 50 mile radius of the property. Hotels alerts would have told you that. Also your money was refunded the same night but you paid your 3rd party, so the amount of time that it took the third party to refund your money and also the time it would have taken your bank to approve and make those fund available has nothing to do with hotel. Our best advice would be to read the hotel policies and research before you book.

Our toilet overflowed all over the bathroom at 11pm, and our only option was to change rooms (and floors). We had to move all our children and their stuff way past their bedtime. I was glad there was another room available, but it was a pain. There is one washer and dryer available for the whole hotel, so you may have to wait a while to do laundry. We noticed things in the room like rust on the lamps and bed frames, spackling on the wall that wasn't painted over, the bathtub in our second room sagged in the middle so the water didn't drain well. My kids thought there was "chocolate" on the pull-out mattress, but it probably wasn't chocolate.

Communication is key
The stay was amazing. It's when a package got sent there by mistake after I left. I emailed every label they needed to send this package back to the sender and no word back. It has to be returned in order for me to get my refund. They're medical supplies. So it's taking allot here just to get the meds that were shipped to holiday inn in Wilmington....
