First of let me say I’ve worked in the hotel industry for 15yrs in the New York City market so I completely understand the front and back of the house. With that being said, although all of the staff was very nice I don’t feel they did everything they could have to make it rite.
I came to Deleware to visit with family for the holiday weekend, myself, my wife, and our 3 children. When we arrived and checked in we were assigned room 103. Just from my experience I went in and checked the condition of the room before settling. Here’s why I encountered:
The smoke detector was detached from the bracket hanging from the wall by the wire exposing the hole behind it.
The carpet was filthy
There was no garbage can in which I inquired about several times.
After speaking with the gentlemen at the desk again who was very nice he explained that there was no maintenance, no housekeeping and it pretty much seemed that he was running the desk, answering complaints, delivering items to rooms, etc. Clearly he was very overwhelmed. He also explained that the hotel was sold out and did not have another room to move us to.
Again because of my experience I could have live with the above listed and try to make the best of it but this took the cake.
Several and I am not exaggerating, SEVERAL sightings of roaches throughout the room. TOTALLY UNEXPLAINABLE!!!!!
