Stay Aboard Our 40-Foot Private Sailing Yacht w/ 2 Cabins — private slip & AC!

Family-friendly beachfront houseboat near Carolina Beach Fishing Pier
Welcome Aboard!
Our beautifully spacious 40-foot sailboat will be a unique and memorable salt-life experience!

She's got 2 cabins and is docked in our private marina w/ electricity, AC/heat, kitchen & more. You'll have access to amazing sunrises and sunsets, kayak, marina and walking access to beach, beach supplies, etc. Sailing charter options discussed after booking for additional fee (Sunset or 1/2 day sailing trips are $499; full day sailing trips are $649). Ideal for couples, small family (5 max). PETS approved case-by-case basis for extra fee.

Watch our virtual tour:

Envision a “floating condo” literally on the water where you can relax to gorgeous sunset and sunrise views. Sailing charters available for additional fee after booking reservation. ($499 for 1/2 day or sunset sailing trips and $699 for full day sailing trips). Sailing is always weather dependent and a $150 deposit is required to guarantee availability. We do not allow last-minute cancellations unless the weather forecast is thunderstorms. Deposits are returned in that case. You can also rent kayaks, jet skis and golf carts nearby.

We do not allow the boat to be taken out of the slip. Your rental is specifically for staying aboard overnight. Even if you have sailing experience, our insurance does not allow any sailing unless we take you.

Do we allow PETS? Yes, but please detailed notes below for fee and terms.

If you love the water and are passionate about unique experiences, our yacht will be above and beyond what any hotel condo can come close to. She's securely docked in a slip with “shore power” (i.e. full electricity), air conditioning (2 units), heating, kitchen with dual sinks, hot/cold filtered water, refrigerator, freezer, pantry storage, microwave, coffee maker, electric skillet, Yeti cooler, sleeping quarters (up to 5*), bathroom head, salon living room, television, couches, linens and towels provided, beach supplies, fishing poles, 2-person kayak, and much more!

* In regards to sleeping arrangements, please inquire if you have more than 3 adults in your party. 2 adults can easily sleep in the queen bed located in the aft master cabin. 1-2 adults or children can sleep in the forward V-berth but that is the size of a twin bed. 2 children can easily sleep in the V-berth. There is also a sofa in the salon AND our salon table can be pushed down into an additional small bed. However, we ask guests not to push down the table unless absolutely necessary. There are also cushions and extra sheets available if you’d like to sleep on deck and watch the stars at night!

Watch our welcome video/video tour for more details:
(Or type up “Virtual tour of our sailboat, Why Knot - rent on Airbnb and VRBO to stay aboard”)

Our yacht is securely tied up in its own private slip at the marina. You will have other boats next to you. She is spaciously comfortable inside, a short walk or drive to public beach access, and is safely accessible in the marina and surrounding town area.

Yacht amenities:
* She has two(2) cabins (“forward” and “aft”).

* Our yacht galley (kitchen) offers a dual sink, filtered hot and cold water, kitchenware and plates/cups, refrigerator, freezer, cabinet storage for your food pantry items, coffee maker, microwave, toaster, George Foreman grill, electric skillet. There is also a BBQ grill, picnic table and hammock at the dock master office for your use. You’ll have everything you need to keep and prepare food. However we encourage you to enjoy some of our local restaurants and cuisine. Inside our welcome document are recommended restaurants!

* A head (bathroom) with complimentary toiletries, shower supplies, etc. (see notes at bottom) … we do ask guests to use the marina restroom as much as possible.

* There are eight(8) opening port-holes and three(3) hatches that provide plenty of fresh ocean breeze!

* There are storage cubbies and a closet for all your luggage.
* Television, DVD player, radio, card games and plenty of books to keep you relaxed.

* Immediately upon going down below you’ll be amazed by the spectacular custom teak interior throughout the boat. We feel the teak alone and walk-around aft cabin sets this vessel far apart! Also, you'll see how spacious she is with plenty of storage all around.

* Also on the boat you can take advantage of our kayak, fishing poles, fishing equipment, casting nets, beach equipment, and more. If you have questions about provided supplies or beach items, simply inquire. We have allocated one of the bathrooms to be for storage as well as an additional dock patio chair.

* On deck of the yacht, the cockpit is extremely spacious and this is where you'll enjoy the sunset and sunrise views! We've added a private table that you can enjoy a meal and/or drinks while relaxing and appreciating the sound of the water and birds flying by.

Our marina provides even more amenities:
* Short walk or drive to the beach
* Laundry
* Free showers and bathrooms (see note at bottom)
* BBQ grill, picnic table and seating
* Free parking (decal provided & required)
* Marina store providing ice, beer, water, small snacks and various supplies
* The marina is a short walk, bike, car or Uber ride to the Carolina Beach pier, the Carolina Beach boardwalk, and dozens of bars and restaurants.

We'll have the yacht professionally cleaned and awaiting your arrival! Self-check in. No one will greet you unless requested. Just let us know!

We live a few hours away in Raleigh, NC but we have several people onsite who can be available as needed.

Important notes:
* Sailing charters can be added for additional fee and can include a 1/2 day cruise(499), full day ocean cruise(649), and evening cruise(499). See welcome letter for details and options. All sailing is weather dependent as well.

* Starting the yacht engine or taking the boat out on the water is not permitted.

* PETS: Pets must be approved and are a case-by-case basis. We love pets and have 2 cats and 2 dogs ourselves; however we do not bring them with us to the boat due to extra cleaning, wear and tear on the
boat, and barking at the marina. If you are requesting to bring your furrbaby, you must inquire. We normally approve SMALLER, NON-SHEDDING pets for a nominal $35 fee. Dogs that shed and larger breeds are usually not approved UNLESS you agree to more strict cleaning terms including a $75 cleaning fee and $250 deposit. We've had issues in the past with dog hair all over our couches, floors, and on top deck which
requires a double cleaning. So please inquire about bringing your pet(s) BEFORE booking. We appreciate your understanding.

* Instead of hard luggage suitcases, bring soft luggage bags.

* Heavy drinking is not permitted onboard. Safety is essential and we ask all guests to act responsibly. You are responsible for own safety onboard and on the dock.

* NOTE ABOUT BATHROOM AND SHOWER: You and your guests having the right expectation is crucial to have an incredible experience. We do all we can to EXCEED your expectations.

We prefer guests to use the marina facilities for the restroom/shower rather than onboard. We do have an onboard toilet for emergencies. Waste is pumped into an onboard holding container that can easily fill up quickly when used frequently. Therefore, we ask (and appreciate) guests helping us by using the marina restroom as much as possible! We’re only a few steps away from the marina facilities. Contact me to inquire about this further. We do not have a shower on board.

Shower and restroom facilities are common use areas at the marina where marina boaters and transient boats passing by also use. Therefore, please understand and be aware that cleanliness is beyond our control. We recognize this is a challenge and appreciate your understanding of boat life. Expect “glamping” (i.e. glorified camping) conditions for your bathroom and shower use. Normally the ladies shower and restroom is much better.
Air-conditioned accommodations at this houseboat offer DVD players and coffee/tea makers. Rooms open to patios. Kitchens offer refrigerators, stovetops, microwaves, and separate dining areas.
Recreational amenities at the houseboat include a water park.

The recreational activities listed below are available either on site or nearby; fees may apply.

5/5 Excellent

Great experience
So many things to do. So little time. We had so much fun fishing, kayaking, paddle boarding. Shane took us out on his boat and we got to just in the ocean. Hope to come back next year.

3/5 Okay

Why Knott
Well maintained nice boat with most of the main necessities on board. Perfect location, easy walk to the spectacular shoreline sunrises. We also enjoyed sunsets right from the deck of the boat. Marina and facilities were clean, neighbors were friendly and the dog friendliness - overall welcoming attitude was so special!! There were some issues that did not go well which we since noticed have been mentioned by others previously. The host requested feedback which was provided in hopes that there will be better, more completely transparent and accurate descriptions regarding sleeping quarters, rest room, and booking a sail for future guests.. This would ensure clear understanding up front and prevent misunderstanding BEFORE someone books/pays. It would be more worth the price if one made their decision based on a crystal clear understanding especially about the restroom. Aesthetically, proximity to seeing great stuff and dining; and welcoming of or furry family members are it's best features!

5/5 Excellent

2/5 Poor

What it is knot
short stay 9/2021- view from boat is pretty, marina quiet, but the A/C was very insufficient everywhere in the cabin other than one bedroom bunk, where it is very loud. There was a heavy mildew smell in the whole cabin which remained on our clothes -wireless was showing available but wouldn't accept the pw- owner suggested we use hotspot-our plan doesn't include it but a booster on the boat would help. Having to use the marina BR in the middle of the night while navigating a slippery dock/boat wasn't pleasant- we left a day/night early when A/C and smell couldn't be remedied- had tried suggestions in notebook- In the cooler season when the cabin area can be opened up to fresh air, it would likely have been a nicer experience but for us, in the heat and humidity, a Carolina Beach hotel room would have been less expensive and far more comfortable
