Upon arrival, the lobby smelled like weed. The front desk attendant was not around and had put up a “be back soon” sign. Fine - we waited a couple of minutes and she came to help us.
She had some some sort of note, knew our family was coming, but without telling us, gave our family of four keys to a room with one bed when we had reserved a room with 2. Of course, we had to come back down to the lobby and tell her that didn’t work. When we came down she was running to the elevators to check rooms because a couple was waiting for a room as well.
She told us she didn’t have a room with 2 beds. When we asked for help, she said she said to contact hotels.com. The chat agent was not responding, though.
She then gave us a key to a “suite” which turned out to also have 1 bed and a sofa bed. We went to the room and the sofa bed was broken, so we couldn’t sleep two people on it. We are ended up making a makeshift “bed” out of a chair and ottomans for our daughter so we could all sleep.
The place was run down and the room was stuffy and hot (on a 55 degree night.). It was pretty gross for a Marriott. Breakfast was pretty good, and I heard others complaining about the poor ventilation and climate control there as well.
We did arrive late, at almost 10 pm, but typically when this happens a hotel will call if there are any issues or to make sure we’re coming. The lady at the front when we checked out seemed perplexed by what happened but no one contacted us to follow up
