    • Disliked: Cleanliness

The property has some good character and is decorated in keeping with its period style. Overall Our stay was disappointing because of the cleanliness of the room (we moved once because the first room we were allocated was the wrong room type which was effectively a downgrade on what I’d paid for, and also smelt strongly of cigarette smoke despite being a non-smoking room). The second room we found much better, although black mould on the blind in the bathroom was unnecessary and could easily have been remedied with a new blind. Many spider webs in the corners of the room and ceilings along with air conditioning vents which again was disappointing. It felt to me like there was not a strict enough deep cleaning regime. Having said that, and on a more positive note, the bed was comfortable and shower was powerful/excellent. Good mini bar selection as you’d expect in a Hotel Du Vin room. Breakfast - the cold selection was good and plentiful. We both ordered from the a la carte hot breakfast - both were cold and one of them (the galette, a savoury pancake with cheese and ham) was very greasy. Fortunately I was able to secure an excellent price on the room, which meant that I paid about half of the normal rate. Had I paid full price I would have been extremely disappointed as there were many ‘smaller details’ that let down the property. However, given the price paid, I think the hotel was good value and if at this price again, I’d give another try - hopefully after a good clean

when we arrived they said that our booking had been cancelled on the day we arrived by Expedia so we panicked but lucky they had a room for us. We had originally asked for a quiet room and was given a noisy room above the bistro kitchen so we moved after our first night.
