Missed opportunities

Pros: We wanted to stay in the Madison area so we didn't have to drive home after the football game.
Cons: When things didn't work, the staff should have fixed the problem, moved us to a different room, or refunded our money.
We had multiple problems with our room. Each time we asked for help, someone made an attempt to fix it, but failed. The safe in the room was locked when we got there. When I aked for help, the woman managing the place came down with a devise to openit, but it didn't open the safe. She said sorry, but that happens here. 10 minutes later when we tried to turn on the TV, it wouldn't turn on. I again called the front desk. The same woman told me to unplug the TV from the wall and try again. That didn't help. We tried changing the batteries in the remote (my wife's idea). That didn't work either. Since we had prepaid for the room, we had no leverage to get moved to another room (the place was also full because it was a football Saturday). Nothing was ultimately done to rectify our problems and no adjustment was made to the cost of the room. I would NEVER stay at this hotel again.

Room was not very clean, especially by the bed. There were stains on the comforter, pillow cases and sheets. Didnt even want to sleep there. Was not expecting a murphy bed either, not comfortable. The shower had 2 shower heads. One was hanging by the cord with no way to attach it to the wall, the other wouldn't turn on. Made it a little difficult to take a shower.

As our reservation was for a sat night (for a badger football game) we expected very warm greetings. Instead we were greeted to a staff member barely making eye contact when I said hi we have a reservation. Looking up from her computer (face rested on her palm leaning on the desk) and looking back at her computer, not asking for any information, she had to finish what she was doing of course (insert annoyed look as well) she was less that warm and short with us. When we came back to our rooms, The other couple that we were with had to call the front desk because their air conditioner was not working properly. The man at the front desk proceeded to say well I'm the only one here what do you want me to do about it?" Not only was the air conditioner not working there was old rotted food in it with mold on it. Needless to say our experience was less than satisfactory.

The bed was too soft for my taste. the air conditioner was too noisy to run at nite and with it off it was too warm. The check in was very easy and the staff was cordial. The pool and hot tub were adequate. The continental breakfast was okay except for no coffee on one morning.

Poor maintenance, terribly noisy air conditioner

Room was okay. The air conditioner was very loud. What made worse was it had 4 variations in the noise that never allowed us to sleep. We took a break from a long trip to rest. But that didn't happen. Breakfast was appalling. Some of the cereals were stale. There wasn't enough bread. Waffles stuck to the waffle maker so badly that you have to scrape off from the waffle maker.

Be prepared to do your own maintenance & cleaning

Pros: Nothing. I will not be going back.
Cons: They need better customer service and a maintenance person on staff that can take care of issues like this.
The hotel is what I would expect from a cheap hotel. A little run down & dirty. Not terrible conditions, but not ideal either. It's the service at this hotel that makes it absolutely the worst hotel I've ever stayed at. Our toilet plugged and instead of the water stopping it continued to run until there was water pouring out all over the bathroom. I quickly grabbed what towels we had to try and soak up as much as I could and also try to prevent it from getting on the carpeting. The water just keep pouring out of the toilet, so I ran down to the front desk to get help. I explained to the lady at the front desk the situation and she says to me "there is no maintenance working today." Are you kidding me? I explained to her once again the water is still flowing out of the toilet and is going to be all over the carpeting soon. She just said the owner preferred to do all the maintenance himself and that he only stopped by once a day. She finally ended up giving me some more towels and a plunger. I was able to get the toilet unplugged and the water to stop flowing, but the couple of towels she gave me did nothing for all the water that was all over the bathroom. I asked her if someone could mop up the rest of it. So she gets a mop bucket and brings it down to the room and she stops at the doorway and says, "we're not allowed to go in the rooms.” So not only do I have to unclog the toilet & pick up all the wet towels myself now I get to mop up the mess in the bathroom.

Room condition issues, but a decent night's sleep

The shower rod in the bathroom was coming loose from the wall, and as a result, the shower curtain did not stay closed. Had to wipe up water that fell outside the tub. The bed was comfortable and the bathroom was clean. Two areas that are important to us. It was one of the few rooms available that night, and we did get a good night's sleep, which was all we were looking for.

Noisy air conditioner in all three rooms rented. Garbage behind TV, forgot to make bed one day. We were there for a week. Staff was friendly and food places all around.
