Heaven away from the hustle & bustlePosted Mar 21, 2012 on Hotels
I've stayed in the Dells several times in the last year. This is the first stay off the "hotel strip". It was perfect. Close to all activities yet feels like you're a million miles away. Very peaceful and enjoyable stay. Only issue is smokers on their decks, it wafts up to on your balcony.

Big Cedar LodgePosted Nov 7, 2011 on Hotels
This was a great choice for us because we just wanted to get away, but note: Everything in the dells shuts down during the off-season. And I mean EVERYTHING. Restaurants were open, but not all. There were probably 2 attractions open during mid-week. It was nice for a romantic, secluded getaway, but definitely bring something to keep you occupied. The hotel itself is lovely. Nicely sized log cabin rooms with high ceilings and a beautiful view.

off the beaten path..Posted Sep 7, 2011
We went last weekend to the Dells for the first time, and stayed at the Cedar lodge. The place is located about 3 miles from downtown Dells and is right on the Wisconsin river. There is a private beach and a boat landing so the kids could play in the sand as long as they want and the beach is very clean. There is a boat-rental and an eating place next door so if you want to rent a boat, just walk across! We stayed in a suite which was part of a quadruplex. It was cozy , and had a kitchenette with a fridge, microwave etc. The bedroom had a queen bed and was dimly lit, which was a minor inconvenience ( there was only one table lamp) . There was no ironing board as well ( so, bring your own!!) The view of the river was great, and the balcony attached was very spacious and the kids could run around. Only thing is that the balcony was shared with the neighbor Make sure that you call ahead if you plan to check in late, since the office closes at 9 pm during peak season, and once it is closed, there is no-one around to help with the check in process.. Overall, excellent value for the money and we would stay here again. .

Peaceful, quiet and relaxingPosted Jun 28, 2011 on Hotels
We stayed at this same lodge 15 years ago when we visted the Dells. Just as I remembered it! Georgous country setting, from the location on the lake to the unique room decor. We had a room in the lodge and it had a beuatiful view of the lake. Just so no one is disappointed this is a lodge and not a hotel. Much more private. I will stay here again, if we are in the area. Also the location is just minutes from downtown dells.

A breath of fresh air from the hustle and bustle of WI DellsPosted Apr 10, 2011
When we walked into Unit 15, we were blown away by the view of the Wisconsin River. The units had a deck that faced the river, which was big enough for a small picnic table to be out there plus a few chairs. Even though it was about 32 degrees out, there were boats out and the water was open despite some of the ice chunks floating down stream (which was neat to see!). Our room had 2 queen beds, a decent sized flat screen TV, DVD player and surprisingly a full size dining table that seated 4-6 people comfortably. The bedding was rustic themed and we loved all the pillows on the bed, it made it feel like home. The bed frames were log-style which added to the rustic feel. Our unit was also amazingly quiet, we didn't hear anyone else in the building. We didn't spend time outside but the river's edge was sandy which would be great for the summer. They also had a couple fire pits which we read they have nightly bonfires during the peak season. There was also a swing set, outdoor swimming pool, large sun deck, and piers and docks on the property. The grounds were very clean and well-kept. There was also WIFI. The only thing we were slightly disappointed with was the mattresses on the bed. These units are privately-owned condos that a rental company rents out when the owners aren't using them, so the furnishings in the rooms are owned by the owners which makes each unit unique.

Call before you show up!! -- it's not a 'hotel'Posted Mar 10, 2011 on Hotels
Cedar Lodge is a great place. Very friendly people. However, because I used Hotels.com rather than booking directly, I did not know that they close the office at 8:00 pm on Friday night. It all worked out okay, but what a scare to show up and the office is closed. Cedar Lodge said they have tried contacting you and Expedia to give them the details about their office hours, but no one puts anything on the website about it! It was a nice stay, but definately a 'do it yourself' type place... you take your towels to the office each day, and take out your trash when you leave. No cleaning service during your stay. It's a beautiful, specious cabin atmosphere -- just make sure you call the office at Cedar Lodge before you arrive. You will have a much nicer visit!!

Great Place for RelaxationPosted Nov 18, 2010 on Hotels
We had a great stay. It was a little different than the standard hotel experience in that you take your garbage out after you're done and they don't turn down the bed. That's not why we stayed there and the room was pristine when we go there. It's not hard to take out a garbage bag. We stayed there for the great accommodations and a cabin-like stay. The room was absolutely fantastic. They all have a great view and the staff were very friendly. The Chula Vista water park passes were a nice touch. We'll be back for certain!
