Centralized location close to subway

Posted May 22, 2018
Pros: Close location to the attractions and subway!
Cons: Put out new bottle of shampoo and shower gel everyday for "staying rooms"!
Location: Walk 10 mins to the City Wall South Gate, 10 mins to the Bell Tower, Drum Tower and 15 mins to Muslim Street.
The hotel is not very eye-catching as it's located at the end of a big building. The location was good as it's on the center of the street where if you turn right from the hotel, you can walk down to the City Wall; and if you turn left from the hotel, you can walk up to Bell Tower, Drum Tower and the subway station. All these within 10 minutes of walk. Muslim Street is about another 5 minutes walk from Bell Tower, or Drum Tower! Hotel staff are friendly, rooms are spacious. We had 2 rooms and the room that my husband and I were in was not very clean, so we asked the housekeeping staff to clean it up and they did it promptly. The only thing to complain "everyday" was they didn't give us, both rooms, new shampoo and shower gel. We had to ask for them and we received them promptly as well. Besides this, everything was great! Wifi in the lobby and in the rooms were strong so no complaints! We enjoyed staying at this hotel and strongly recommend it to you all!

Very good location

Pros: location
The location of the hotel was great and staff were friendly. The rooms however were very small and dated, they also smelled like cigarette smoke.

Excellent Xian location

Posted Apr 3, 2018
We loved the Skytel Inn. It was on the main street between the Old City Wall and the Bell Tower. There were restaurants near by on the side streets. We loved to be able to walk to these sites as well as the Muslim Quarter. The breakfast buffet was only Ok. There was a lot of food catering to Chinese tourists and the Western food was so-so; not many choices for the kids. Our room was spacious and the beds very comfortable. Would definitely stay here again.

Nice location but not much else.

Hotel was in a great location in Xi'an and staff were friendly enough given the language barrier. However it is showing wear and tear. I stayed in 601 for two nights at the end of March 2018. Overall the room was tired.1/2 the lights were not working, towels were worn, fridge was not cold, pillows flat and bed was rock hard. The shower head in the bathroom is badly designed it pointed straight down so you had stand directly under it 5in from the wall to shower (imagine putting your feet on either side of the drain with your toes touching the front of the tub). This also made the water run down the tub and form a large puddle on the bathroom floor. The rooms A/C did not work so it was super hot and stuffy in the room. I suspect the HVAC system is broken because almost all the room doors we walked by had doors wide open to provide ventilation. To be fair to the hotel we did not report any of these issues to the staff as we were only in our hotel long enough to shower and sleep both nights. For the budget price it is almost bearable for a night or two but would not recommend.

Worst hotel I have ever stayed in.

Posted Feb 13, 2018
Pros: Nothing. I am shocked that Expedia would associate themselves with such a poor hotel.
Cons: Everything, shower was weak, toilet didn't flush properly, staff were rude, beds were filthy.
Location: Good location but that's about it.
I booked this room last minute, the room was titled 'Deluxe triple room'. Check-in was smooth although the girl at reception spoke no English. When we got to our room, it was not a 'deluxe triple room', it was a twin room with a put up bed. I checked the reservation documents and no where did it state that the third bed would be a camp bed. I went to sit on the camp bed, and it was so unstable that the legs nearly collapsed, it would not have been safe enough to sleep in. Anyway, we quickly wanted to freshen up before heading out, I decided I would speak to the manager downstairs before we headed out. However, when we went to use the safe, we noticed that it was broken, at this point I called the reception desk and asked them to come to the room. In the meantime, I noticed that the sheets on the third bed were not fresh! They had multiple stains and hairs on - I was disgusted by this! When I pulled the sheets back, I noticed that the mattress was rock solid and could not be classed as a mattress at all! The hotel had clearly tried to disguise this by putting a duvet under the bed sheet, through the bed sheet, I could see thick black hairs attached to the duvet they were using as a mattress cover. I decided to go down to reception at this point to speak to the manager. I went down and spoke to a lady called 'Sweet', who actually laughed in my face along with her colleagues. I was embarrassed and disgusted. I called reception, and asked that they changed the bed

come for the city, not for the room

Posted Jan 6, 2018 on Hotels
Skytel Xi'an put us in walking distance from many of the highlights of our visit to the city: the Bell and Drum Towers, South Gate and City Wall, and the Great Mosque. However, the room itself evinced the "chabuduo" (差不多) or "close enough for government work" attitude of too much Mainland Chinese construction. Some of the outlets didn't work, and none were high enough that we could use the electric kettle from a table: we had to put it on a chair. The shower head angled down so sharply that much of the water hit the wall and formed a pool on the floor. The washbasin tap put out abundant cold but only a dribble of lukewarm water instead of hot. The wi-fi alternated between slow and completely inoperative; you could get as far as your email login, then for twenty minutes find yourself unable to open a single message. Don't come to enjoy the room or to get work done.

Very near to City Wall and Bell and Drum Towers. Around also has a supermarket and convenient stores. Easily access by metro and buses.

Provide very limited utility. Shampoo and body form weren’t enough for two persons.
