Unassuming hotel in center of Xian

Posted Jun 26, 2017
Pros: Room size, mini fridge, location
Cons: I had a little trouble getting a cab back to the airport. Im sure this was just a communication issue as I didn't understand what I was supposed to do
Location: There are high end shops, a Dairy Queen and some other local resturants in the immediate area. About 1/4 of a mile is the Bell Tower and city wall.
If you were driving down the street, or even walking, you would not notice the hotel if you weren't specifically looking for it. It is part of an upscale shopping complex in a very nice part of Xian. The lobby was nice and had a pleasant smell. Check in was ok but, as in all of Xian, English is limited with the staff. This is not a problem for me as I am in their country and should not expect them to speak English just because I am gracing China with my presence. The room was huge by Asian standards and while the amenities were limited for a 4 or 5 star hotel I found them to be sufficient. There was a mini fridge, desk, small couch and queen sized bed. I have read reviews about the air conditioner not working well and while I would have liked it a bit cooler I had no problems and I really like the room cold. Overall, very nice hotel at a wonderful price. The price was almost too cheap that I did not consider the hotel because of the price. I have stayed at places with a comparable price and have never had a positive experience.

Some reservations but overall good

Posted Apr 26, 2017
Pros: Modern layout and design, clean public areas, Wifi was pretty descent
Cons: Put a chair in the room! Better AC, and have at least once staff that can speak a little english.
Location: Bell Tower and Drum Tower are within walking distance. there is also a KFC and McDonalds in the same area.
Hotel has no signage outside. I asked a shop where the hotel was and they pointed to the entrance. It is a revolving door again with no signage. Staff speak very little english, less than the little you expect from hotel staff in China. Hotel itself has very nice decorations, the hallways are really nice, the room itself is clean and modern. Now the issues: There is a desk but there is no chair. Yet there was a giant basket for laundry. So I turned that upside down, put a towel on it and used it as a chair to work on my laptop. Air conditioner was noisy and pretty ineffective. There were times were I was legitimately hot and thought of calling front desk and complaining, I didn't do that for 2 reasons, likelihood of them understanding was very little (I had trouble telling them Please call taxi for airport), and secondly I had already unpacked and did not feel like relocating to another room. In the hallways, air conditioner was excellent.

A pleasant stay but don't expect more.

The location is very good as in the center of the city. The room is clean and comfortable but the features in the room require maintenance and it has much room for improvement. Overall it is still good value for money.

Convenient and budget friendly Hotel

Posted Mar 15, 2017
Pros: Budget friendly and close to local attractions.
Cons: Stained carpet.
Location: South gate of the City Wall, Bell Tower, shopping.
We stayed here for 4 nights while we explored the city and went on daily excursions. The room was spacious and plenty of room for two adults to get ready. The toilet would clog every now and then but the hotel quickly fixed it. The hotel is close to the Bell Tower and the South Gate to the City Wall. There are a lot of good, cheap local food and western food in the area. There is a grocery store nearby to get snacks and supplies.

RAINY XI'AN - not hotel's fault.

Posted Mar 14, 2017
Pros: wonderful room!
Cons: drinks in minibar Regular bar downstairs.
Room was great! Would have been nice to have umbrellas available as loaners! Only would sell them! Great location for sight-seeing. No bar - that would have been nice in the evening! Didn't have much tour information - Tang dynasty show, etc. Was hard to initially find! Taxi driver just dropped us as he couldn't find it! Finally a young man found it on his GPS. Staff very helpful and courteous!

Disappointing and Basic

Posted Mar 12, 2017 on Hotels
Overall I was quite disappointed with the stay in the hotel because of the room. I'm not normally picky but felt it did need calling out. Sleeping: Bed had literally the hardest mattress I've ever slept in and wasn't comfy. Bathroom: Very basic. Small bath with low shower to the point I had to bend over to get under it. Toilet roll holder fell off straight away and no spare roll. Room entertainment: TV but was far from the bed. Lobby: Clean, modern and smart. Staff: Fairly good English and friendly.

Good location, but lousy service

Posted Mar 9, 2017
Breakfast times not communicated so I missed it. very hard to get any tourist information out of them about the terricota army or the city, (you have to buy a city map) Finally they forced me to take there car service to see the Terracotta Army where They tried to get me to go other places, it was a tough trip.

Very nice hotel, but verify the room your getting.

Posted Feb 26, 2017 on Hotels
Spent 6 nights in Xi'an doing the tourist type stuff. Hotel is clean, well appointed and well located being only 200 meters inside from the south gate of the old city wall. A large number of the must see things are easily walkable on flat ground. Only two drawbacks, the front desk staff did not really have english as a skill set and the room was definitely a single given two bathroom mugs. But for the price I really can't grumble.
