Nice Resort, great beach

Pros: The grounds and pool were very nice. The beach is awesome.
Cons: Room service, and food
Location: We did not leave the resort as there was plenty to do there.
The beach and pools are awesome. The pools were nice and clean. The beach was easy to get to and there was always a nice breeze. It never felt crowded. There was a lot to do on the beach, like snorkeling. There was a lot of things to do at the resort without ever leaving. Very family oriented. Many things for children to do. The drinks were not good. In lieu of the recent reports of bootlegged alcohol, and people dying or blacking out, we were glad that we did not drink during our stay. I would go back for this reason. The room service was terrible. The food was also not very good. We had to continually ask for coffee and water and wait a long time for it to come. They did not keep us stocked. We also found two cockroaches in our room, and when we called the service desk they did nothing about it. They did not try to talk to us about it or show any concern. When we insisted on being moved to another room they were not accommodating at all. I understand that it is common to find cockroaches in those areas, but they told us they would do something about it and didn't. They never replaced our broken coffee maker.

Nice hotel overall

Nice hotel, just a few negative things, first no enough restrooms near the pool area. Second need to clean the bathroom in the rooms better, there was mold in the shower door and walls. Third the rooms need better maintenance and one of the mattress was making a squiking noise. Other than that it was fine

Beautiful complex with lots to do

This is our second family trip to Barcelo and has really improved since our last trip. Has a water park with surfing and slides (extra cost, but worth it for the kids.) bowling alley and sports bar, great snorkeling (best is in front of palace near rocks), lots of extra water activities (some are included and some extra) dolphin area ( didnt like this for the dolphins :( ) , a mall with lots of shopping and walking around, a dance club for teenagers and adults (kids loved it), beautiful grounds, food was good, staff was excellent.

Terrible all inclusive truly NOT all inclusive

We had a group of 20 staying at the hotel. It was one issue after another since the first day at check in. Activities were all an extra charge and some were paid in cash or room charge. The buffet for breakfast lunch and dinner were always the same selection. The bar wait was always long and it got so bad at one point that one of our guests had to get behind the bar to serve ourselves.

Won't know what your getting until U get there

Were told that we had booked 2 rooms adjoining each other BUT in a weeks stay (with several conversations) that didn't happen. Also told of fishing opportunities on the premises ( not true unless U are willing to break the law). Not allowed to train our 16 year old son ( won't even consider it with a waiver from liability). Customer service will give U a big runaround hoping to send U from person to person thus consuming a lot of your time hoping U will give up and not bother anyone with your issue

You never have to leave

This is our favorite place to stay in Mexico. We had an issue when we arrived they put us in Caribe instead of Tropical because they didnt have room for us even though we booked our trip 6 months in advance. It wouldn't have been that big of a deal had we not gone for a family vacation and ended up with a 15 minutes walk away from the rest of the group. They fixed it for us the next day. If you dont like hard beds you will find trouble sleeping. Don't let that discourage you they are very friendly and ALL INCLUSIVE no need to leave for excursions they have it all!

Nice resort overall but obviously short-staffed

Pros: Many activities could've been done right at the resort by the beach: jet skiing, parasailing, banana boating, snorkeling, fly-board, etc.
Cons: Hire more/ more able staff.
Location: A lot to do at the resort as well as tours leaving right from the resort. We strongly recommend a tour with Omir from Maya Aventuras.
Upon arrival, we had a very negative first impression. Our check-in took over TWO HOURS and was done by a trainee with nobody looking over him, we came late and were already very tired. I strongly felt that they were just waiting for tips up front, and this would've gotten us a better room. This was bad enough but the morning of the next day we went to the gift shop to purchase sunscreen but ended up not being able to because i turned out that WE WERE NOT ACTUALLY CHECKED IN. They never put us into the system, meaning that according to the computers there was nobody living in our room which could've easily been assigned to a second family. Of course we immediately went to the front desk and ended up wasting ANOTHER hour because they couldn't figure anything out. The facilities were old but kept up well. The resort was really obviously short-staffed though, everyone always looked very rushed and couldn't be bothered, and when asking for anything like a simple glass of water, you'd wait at least 20 minutes to get it. The only staff that were friendly were those that hosted activities by the beach which came at an additional cost such as parasailing, snorkeling, fly-boarding, banana boating, jet skiing, etc. (aka those who got good tips).

Great resort & family friendly

This was an excellent resort & a wonderful vacation for my family & extended family (we were a group of 12 people.) It was family-friendly with great pools for the kids & a beautiful clear, turquoise blue & sandy beach. The pools, the food, the live nightly shows, & the scenery were excellent. The staff was very friendly & courteous. However, the wait at the front lobby was excruciatingly & painfully long (ALL THE TIME!). Otherwise, we would highly recommend it, as this was our second consecutive visit to this resort in 2 years.
