OK hotel, great surroundings and landscape

OK hotel, which needs renovation but great staff, surroundings and fantastic cross country tracks

Pros: Great staff, surroundings and skiing facilities

    Cons: Room standard

Location: Tens of kilometers of well prepared ski tracks, classic and skating.

    Lillehammer Winter Youth Olympic Games

We were marooned at the hotel for a day by a snowstorm with strong winds causing deep snow drifts. There's only one access road in winter with a 50 Kr toll payable for keeping it passable in snow.

Pros: Good food and good value with helpful staff.

Cons: For the price, the hotel and service is good.

Location: The hotel is a long way out of Oyer and is high up with only one access road in winter.

    Probably more pleasant during winter

Not what I expected. The Hotel is about 15km farther East than what is shown on the Map and Directions link. The location this link shows the hotel to be close to Oyre in a rural residential area and not the actual hotel location. This is misleading and a serious mistake. This needs to be fixed! Had I known this I may have chosen a different hotel and/or I would have taken different route getting there. This different location further away from Oyre which meant I needed to leave a half hour earlier than planned to drive to the airport due to the extra distance. The hotel is more of a Winter Resort. In summer the countryside is nice but the hotel is a bit old and rundown. Hardly any other guests. No elevator. More for backpackers and skiers. No other choice for dining other than the hotel unless you take the 30km drive back to Oyre

Pros: Secluded location. Beautiful moon over the lake and beautiful sunrise over the ridge. Hotel staff was OK. Primarily students on summer break

    Cons: Renovation

Location: Nature. Wasn't there long enough to enjoy

    4/5 Good

Unique hotel cum hostel with kind staff

This place is unique. A mixture of a hotel and a hostel both for individual guests and many students and teachers from Norwegian special schools. The staff is kind and informative, especially the Danish manager. Some rooms are up to standard while others reportedly need upgrading. Breakfast is good. One evening a gathering of a local "Moped" association with dinner and dance to live music. Quite a happy lot! The surroundings are beautiful and excellent for outdoor life. We hope to return if possible.

    • Disliked: Property conditions & facilities, room comfort
