nice value, staff needs work

Pros: The value, the lobby and grounds and several on the staff who went out of their way to be helpful.
Cons: Bedding, towels, replacement of shower gel and shampoo; willingness of some staff to help guests with requests that are made nicely and politely.
Location: The location is great for the northern beaches and snorkeling Mnema atoll, but is over an hour drive to the airport and Stone Town.
This hotel has lovely grounds and is a good value. However, management at this hotel responds to criticism with belittling and accusing you of things you didn't say. When I pointed out that after 4 nights my 1 small bottle of shower gel had still not been replaced (and was not replaced even when I asked for it to be), I was told expecting more was 'mass consumerism'. Despite asking several staff members nicely to either make a call or other arrangements for me, always with a please and thank you, they would look at me like they couldn't understand what I was saying and seemed very hesitant to do so. Management defended this behavior by suggesting I had spoken disrespectfully to them, which never happened. The towels were rough, dingy and yellowed, yet management flat out said 'they aren't yellow' despite not seeing them. The comforter was rough from overuse and the mattress uncomfortable. It's unfortunate that instead of using criticism as an opportunity to improve, management gets very defensive and places blame on the guest.

A large hotel with services by good beach

Pros: Location on the sea and beach. Had a big garden and was quiet.
Cons: Would be nice if they paid close attention to people's room choices (took hours to shift to the room type requested)
Location: On the beach so typical beach activities, including boat tours, diving/snorkeling, kite surfing. Nearby are interesting spice farm tours.
We visited during the middle of the rainy season so had some of the inevitable heavy rain. The hotel has good facilities and is spread over a large area with well kept gardens. The hotel next door is a 'sister' hotel so there is the option of eating or doing activities there. The beach in front of the complex is white sand and quite wide at low tide. Some of the downsides for me were that I thought they overcharged for many items (food, drinks, spa) when they were much cheaper in other local places. The staff tried to be helpful, but some things were forgotten, like our request to shift to an upstairs room (as requested at booking) and the process took 4 hours! For those (including families with kids) who wanted to eat early, they were out of luck as dinner started at 7:30. Overall an ok visit, but glad we didn't stay longer.

Bra - men noe kan bli bedre

Jevnt over meget bra. Variert buffet bade til frokost og middag. Men negativt at dagen med barbeque kom vi 45 minutter etter start og det var tomt for mange av råvarene. Fluene som surrer rundt maten i store mengder kan også påvirke appetitten til europeiske gjester. I Påsken når vi besøkte hotellet var det litt regn og internet var svært ustabilt. Personalet i resepsjonen var svært interesserte i å selge sightseeing til oss. Når vi opplyste at vi hadde booket hos andre følte vi at de ble skuffet og vi opplevde dette som ubehagelig. Greit å finne ledige solsenger. Jevnt over meget hyggelig og positivt personale.

Men på den siste bestemt opphold du ikke var fornøyd med forsinket service for grilling du bestilte , og vi er veldig lei meg for det, og vi forstår at vi bør øke andelen av mat , dette er godt kjent . Vi er også lei meg for at det var fluer tross oss som bruker insekt avstøtende som vi fortsatt gjøre , har vi lagt mer av dette insektet repellants . Når det gjelder internett på regnværsdager er vi beklager, men dette er dessverre utenfor vår kontroll som det meste når det regner tungt de fleste elektroniske tjenester er berørt inkludert kabel-TV . Vi er glad for at du finner våre ansatte til å være hyggelig og med positiv holdning . Vi ønsker deg velkommen igjen på feriestedet vårt. Takk skal du ha.

Smukt men ensomt beliggende hotel

Smukt indrettet hotel og flotte store værelser (med den største seng,vi nogensinde har oplevet) som desværre lå lidt langt væk fra strand m.m. Vi savnede, at der var landsbyer eller lignende man kunne gå til- føltes meget "ensomt", når nu der var relativt få gæster på hotellet. Alle i personalet var søde og venlige.

Zanzibar Weekend

Beautiful spot - great value for the price when you do the meals included option...food was fabulous. About an hour drive from the airport so recommend arranging transport in advance. Dive shop on site with great staff as well if that is what you are planning

We had a wonderful 10 days stay at this hotel. The service is very good and the waiters and waitresses very kind and service orientated. The environment is beautiful. Everywhere beautiful flowers. The gardiers arrange that the environment looks very nice every day. The accommodation is good. Well worth visiting.

We had a great time, we got the superior package which included breakfast and dinner.

Great spot

Wonderful, clean, well-appointed resort with all of the bells and whistles. Food was quite impressive relative to other high-end places I've stayed in Tanzania. (I travel there frequently for work.) The one disappointment was the presence of "beach boys" constantly bothering you to buy things from them and/or "just get to know you" on the beach. Security did a great job of keeping them away from the resort itself, but it made walking and enjoying the beautiful beach much less fun.

Endroit paradisiaque

Tout est fait pour que vous vous sentiez bien dans cet établissement. La décoration est agréable. Les diners sont gargantuesques est vraiment bons. Ils varient tous les jours. J'avais pris la formule en demi pension ce qui est amplement suffisant. Les serveurs et serveuses de l'hôtel sont prévenants et ont toujours le sourire. Je tiens à féliciter John, Hamis et Omari. Les guerriers Massai qui s'occupent de la sécurité de l'hotel sont également très gentils. Le plus de l'hotel est la salle de sport, hotel donnant sur la plage, securité ce qui permet de profiter au maximum de son séjour au calme et dans la bonne humeur. L'hotel vous prete les serviettes de plage ce qui est très appréciable. Vous pouvez profiter des visites soit en passant par l hotel soit en passant par Hamisi un des beach boy par lequel je suis passée. Il essaye de parler en français et vous accompagne tout au long de votre périple.

Did not get the room booked for

Cons: better service, Staff to speak more in English as to avoid mis-understandings.
Location: East coast of Zanzibar.
We paid and booked for the sea facing rooms about 40 days before our holiday on 14/04 and when we arrived for, we were offered (Garden view) different ones than booked (Sea facing view). They took us to other available rooms, which were not in suitable locations. For over an hour, we were trying to get this issue resolved but nothing could be done. The booking promised sea facing rooms, which we did not get and it was very disappointing. Hungry and tired we just accepted the rooms offered, and did not want the holiday to be affected by this. Booking was done on Expedia, but apparently they send it through some other agency and then they make a central booking, which allows for short comings in the whole process. I would like Expedia to pay us back the difference between the Sea facing rooms and Garden facing rooms in which we stayed. When you are excited to enjoy your holiday, this can be a dampener in spite of paying loads of money. My Spouse is a vegetarian and sadly there weren't enough options during Dinner.

Having said this as you saw yourself we have some rooms that are sea facing at Bluebay Resort while others are blocked by trees which offer the facility a cool air surrounding, we try and make sure that all clients feel their needs met as there are those who prefer to see the greens and feel the wheeze of the leaves at night...others like you prefer to see the ocean and feel the wave sounds. We would have given you our sea facing room but at the moment all of the sea facing rooms had been taken, it was just a bad co-incidence however we welcome you to stay with us again and this time we guarantee that we shall offer you our sea facing Superior rooms with an excellent view of the blue ocean. Also since then we have improved our menu and meals.
