Hotel-Museum in Zonas Rosa and Roma area

Posted Aug 1, 2017
This 1907 hotel has retained its decorative embellishments while updating its facilities for today's clientele. The staff is friendly and solicitous. I especially appreciated its driver, Jorge Ramirez, who met us daily to take us to wherever we wanted to go at a very reasonable cost. Nearby is the city's best antiques market, with additional vendors on Saturday morning. Although Londres, the street in front of the hotel is under reconstruction, the street behind (Liverpool), is open.

Beautiful hotel in La Zona Rosa

Posted Jul 23, 2017
One of the best hotels I have stayed at. Its visually pleasing (its a little museum in itself) and the Hotel staff were so genuine and nice. The location (in La Zona Rosa) couldnt have been any better either. Its near local bars, wonderful resturaunts, and plently of other places like parks, markets, and museums that are walking distance or a short uber ride away. I highly recommend this hotel! -Yesenia

Beautiful hotel in need of better staff

Posted Jul 11, 2017
Pros: The hotel is very beautiful and historic.
Cons: The staff.
Location: Lots of bars, restaurants, and monuments.
The hotel is beautiful. It is in a nice part of town and is very opulent and historical. The rooms are large and clean. My only gripe is the staff. I found them cold and arrogant. Although they let me check in early, they made sure to make me feel as if they were doing me a big favor even though they had me stay in the smoking part of the building (and I don't smoke). Upon check out, I didn't check my receipt -- which was made out to another person! Unfortunately, I did not catch this mistake until the hotel staff gave me a huge hassle and refused to let me leave the hotel until I proved to them I had paid and checked out. (I stayed with a friend in another room my last night because my flight was at 2:00am the next morning and I didn't want to pay for a whole night for a few hours of sleep). I considered making this my "go to" hotel in Mexico City, but the staff seemed unfriendly and, quite frankly, incompetent. If you're looking for ease and comfort, I'd suggest staying at a more established and professional hotel. The price at this hotel is low because the hotel is old (though beautiful) and in need of updating, but also because the staff seems uninterested in making your stay pleasurable. In my case, I'd consider it as a back-up hotel. There are lots of old, beautiful hotels in the city.

GREAT LOCATION

Posted Jul 9, 2017
You could always catch a taxi from the back end of the hotel or side streets. The road in front of the hotel was being redone while we were there. It was nice to walk around at night and feel very safe. Rooms need some up dating but then again it is a old hotel. Inside the hotel lobby was very cool and interesting to look at. The breakfast was very good. Would stay here again.

Beautiful historic hotel in doentown Mexico City.

The hotel is beautiful and full of history. The staff was friendly and helped us out every time we had problems. The area around the hotel spooked us at first, but we liked it by the end of our trip and we miss it already

Nice hotel, very traditional

Posted Jul 5, 2017
Location: Lots of restaurants are closeby
Its lobby is like a museum, staff very helpful and attentive to any need. The one thing I did not like was the breakfast, everything was cold and it took a long time to have 2 eggs prepared. Unfortunately during our visit, the front street was being re-carpeted and there was a lot of dirt, construction workers and noise around. Hopefully this will be finished soon. Rooms are a bit small, and the single bed is quite small. Going to the room felt like a walk in the passages of the Titanic, as they are a bit dark, long and a bit confusing.

Old world charm in midst of modern Mexico City

Posted Jun 28, 2017
Pros: Character, charm, sense of history, staff were great, immediate hot water in the shower, location in Zona Rosa, room was very quite.
Cons: The hotel is old, and the rooms, while spotlessly clean and very large, are a touch worn, which is to be expected to a degree in a 100 year old hotel.
Location: In Zona Rosa with a lot of bars, cafes and great shopping. An LGBT hub with clubs and bars aplenty.
I found this hotel on Expedia and liked the look of it immediately with its European style and over 100 years of history. I like a hotel with character, and this hotel has character in abundance. The lobby area is very grand and achieves a sense of history without being 'plastic'. The hotel was close to where the conference I attended was held and Hotel Geneve Ciudad de Mexico had far more appeal than the more modern, and far more expensive, hotel that hosted the conference. I also got the large room for a great price for 5 nights (thanks Expedia). I loved this hotel and have no qualms recommending it to others.

Quirky, comfortable old hotel with storied past

Posted Jun 27, 2017
Pros: We loved the ambience as well as the friendliness of the staff.
Cons: The air conditioner in our room was spitting out tiny droplets of water while in use.
Location: Great location near bars, restaurants, walking distance to a plethora of Mexico City museums, including the must-see Anthropology museum.
Half hotel, half museum, the Hotel Geneve Ciudad de Mexico is full of fascinating quirks -- like a "Telephone Bar" decorated with old telephones, exhibits of women's shoes through the decades, and suites named after famous historical figures with a connection to the hotel, from Winston Churchill to Porfirio Diaz. The staff are warm and friendly. The rooms are comfortable and up to date. There is a small but adequate fitness center and a restaurant with reasonably priced food. This is not your generic hotel decor, but a place with a unique, and fun, look and feel.
