Great apartment-style hotel a tad far from city

Posted Nov 27, 2015
Pros: The staff and the chocolate croissant
Cons: If you could teleport the hotel closer to the city.. otherwise, consider providing guests with guidance on how to get to Grossmunster area quicker.
Location: Swiss Casino, skateboarding park
On location, Greulich is about a solid 15-20 minutes walk to the city center, which I define as the Grossmunster (twin tower church) area. If you are staying in Zurich for many days and plan to go to the city often, the distance can be a little inconvenient. My wife and I were there for 2 nights and found the walking to be a little far the first time but got used to it quickly. Greulich is a restaurant with apartment-style hotel rooms, so the reception desk serves both the hotel and restaurant guests. The staff is excellent, some of the receptionists had the warmest and sweetest smiles we'd encountered in Europe, and they were very helpful and hospitable. We stayed on the third floor in a larger room, about 30sqm (300 sqft) with a separate living room area, the extra space is nice! The drawback is that the washroom was really small. The room was clean, modern and tidy. Breakfast was a little limited but they have two secret weapons: banana cake and the best chocolate croissant in the Western hemisphere. We even kidnapped one croissant before we checked out and ate it 100 miles away in Lucern. Yes Greulich, it was us. Ultimately, the good service won us over.

Fabulous Greulich Zurich

Posted Oct 1, 2015 on Hotels
Can't find a better deal or more fun place than the Greulich in Zurich. Stay away from the stuffy overpriced downtown in a hip hotel and area of town. From the food to the staff an experience you will come back for.

Nice hotel, away from hustle and bustle of city

Posted Sep 27, 2015
Pros: Staff was courteous and friendly. The breakfast in the morning had decent options and was tasty. Loved the yogurt and muesli.
Location: In the evening we could hear the bells tolling from near by clock tower. The surrounding area seems residential and quiet where we had nice walks.
We had a wonderful experience in the 'Designer Loft'. The place was HUGE! With wrap around windows for the entire place, it was luxuriously spacious. There was a huge living room, almost 16'x12', a dining room, separate kitchen and one bedroom, 10'x9'. This was the largest hotel room I have stayed in Europe. The breeze in the evening was very nice and although there was AC, we never had to turn it on. (Aug 1st, 2nd). There were only 2 rooms on each floor for this type of room. That meant it was almost like private floor. :)

Another perfect stay at Greulich. Staff is incredibly friendly. Rooms spacious and clean if a bit minimalistic, great food at the restaurant and amazing value in Zurich.

Trip to Switzerland

We had an excellent 3 day stay in Zurich visiting relatives. It is easy to get around using bus and train. Good restuarant and cigar room.
