The perfect combination
Posted Feb 7, 2017
This hotel was charming, convenient and (relatively) inexpensive- a tough combination to find in Zurich. It's a straight shot from the airport on the #10 tram, which stops right in front. It's a big plus when you're arriving after a long flight and don't want to deal with the sometimes confusing public transit system. The #9 tram, which takes you to the Old City in 10-15 minutes, also stops just in front of the hotel.
The hotel itself is well decorated and has that "boutique" feel. Our room was spacious and well appointed. We requested a room in back for the quiet, but it's a somewhat residential neighborhood so I don't think a room on the street would have been too noisy anyway. I understand some people have been upset about the lack of air conditioning but we were there in winter so it obviously wasn't a problem for us.
We skipped the pricey hotel breakfast and instead gorged at the Hausammann bakery just across the street. There's also a great restaurant -- Linde Oberstrass -- just down the street with traditional Swiss food and a very nice lager. :-)
The staff was very pleasant and helpful. We have no complaints whatsoever.
