“The reviews on this have been variable so it’s time to weigh in with my own. Bottom line - if you want a decent stay for a cost-effective price, DO consider this. If you’re looking for the Ritz, it’s probably wrong for you. This is normally student accommodation and so is way better than a hostel while not being a hotel. You get your own, modern, fairly smart room with an en suite shower room and toilet. There’s also a modern shared kitchen/TV area with oven and microwave and washing up……

“This is a great place to get away. The hosts are amazing! Great shops within 20min and a beautiful property. If going far, take a taxi to the train station, taxis are very expensive.”

“The room was perfect for the price. My only complaint was that the mattress was very thin and the coils could be felt - so not very comfortable.”

“The place was clean and well equipped. The grounds were beautiful and the animals were an added surprise. The owner was very quick to respond to any question I had. Definitely recommend.”

“Very friendly staff. Good location. Good amenities. The room was a little smaller than I thought. Bed was sunken in the middle and the springs in the mattress were annoying. Shower drained extremely slow. Good stay if you plan to be out and about all day and want to save some money on lodging.”

“It is a wonderful place to stay if you want to relax in the country and still be close to Dublin (less than a 1/2 hour away). You can walk to the surrounding towns to take in a good meal and some cold drinks and take in the local flare. The hosts are wonderful folks that genuinely care for the comfort of their guests. Since we didn’t have a car they took the time to drive me into town for some ice since there was none on the freezer. I ask who does this? Not many would. Thank you for 3 memorable……

“Dear Sean & Brian and the whole team of the Alensgrove Cottages! It has been a most wonderful stay at your place. We loved the apartment and the surroundings and felt very safe. The apartment offered everything we needed, it was very comfortable. Thanks for the welcoming package! The kids were delighted to find Nutella, honey and different kinds of jam and cereal for breakfast. Me, I was grateful for having a washing machine. At one point, when having a problem with the television, it was fixed……

“Everything was great. I will say that they went above and beyond helping. They are very kind and talkative, which is nice. They provided a map of Dublin. My room was very clean: the only problem was I wish they had the bathroom cleaned more often. But nobody bothered me. My key never had a single problem working. There are elevators which is so nice if you bring lots of bags. The washer and dryers there were easy and fast to use them. They don’t take cash for the washer or dryer. I used Apple……

“Todo muy bien, sólo que no sabíamos que era para estudiantes y que necesitaba carta de aceptación de la escuela, sólo iba de vacaciones por 4 días, pero se resolvió todo y mi estancia estuvo muy agradable. Gracias”
