This is a lovely plantation. When booking a room, also make sure to purchase tickets for the plantation house and museum these are not included in your stay. The restaurants and parking in the property is a long walk to your room, plan accordingly. Planning on eating onsite could be expensive, the food is ok nothing special.

I have traveled all over the world and this is my favorite place. The food is absolutely delightful! I am a chef and restaurant owner and I am completely blown away by the food! I truly joy the entire atmosphere. The walking paths through the grounds are peaceful and gorgeous. The cottages are beautifully decorated and clean. If I could live here, I would. I come here 1 - 2 a year. This is my oasis away from the snowy tundra in Superior, WI. The owner, chefs, staff, and grounds man are all personable and welcoming. I love Houmas Plantation and can't wait to come back!

Perfect location for a few days touring local plantations. Beautiful well kept grounds with so many shaded sitting areas tucked away to relax and enjoy the property. My cottage was roomy, well appointed, comfortable and as a solo female traveler I felt safe. I am so glad I opted to stay here for my 3 nights in this area - it made for the perfect trip. A full breakfast each morning in addition to a great restaurant on property - so convenient for long days of sightseeing. One criticism breakfast cafe staff could be a little more friendly / helpful. Same experience each morning. Outside of that I experienced nothing but excellent service on property.
