“The location is great! Nice and quiet along the highway. Slept soundly. The bedding and provided linens were clean. I will say the cleanliness was very poor though. The units smelled like mould and urine. There was black hair left over from a previous occupant all over. No thorough cleaning. The microwave was filthy with sticky sauce all over it. Overall, a very rundown unit. Would not return, but was grateful for a decent bed to sleep on.”

“The location is close to local attractions and restaurants. The owners are incredibly wonderful people that take the time to make sure you are having a great time. A great choice if you are staying in Port Alberni.”

“The Riding fool was perfect for our little family! Comfy beds, very clean facilities, great smelling towels and soaps in the washrooms, excellent common room with games and pool table, great place to meet people…and a place to store and fix our bikes to to it off! Common kitchen area with everything. And in central Cumberland where we could walk to everything. We will definitely be back! But for longer:) Thank you so much!!”

“We arrived later in the evening and were greeted by a friendly front desk host who provided helpful information about the hotel amenities and recommended the best place to park based on the location of our room. The lobby was clean, welcoming and nicely renovated, creating a great first impression. Our room was on the second floor, which wasn’t an issue for us, but it’s worth noting there is no elevator, so it could be challenging for anyone with mobility concerns or heavy luggage. The room……

“This was my first time staying on the island and the hotel was horrible. rooms were dirty, sketchy area and definitely not worth the price. AC unit didn’t work, def don’t book this hotel.. the fact that it’s not refundable is a red flag in itself.”

“The smell of the room (I've stayed in 2 different rooms here while in town for work) will knock you over when you first walk in (if you're normally a clean person) - it smells like someone's been hiding a year's worth of work socks and underwear under a mattress. The rooms are "generally clean" but I had a look around with my handy dandy UV light in the dark and, yeah, no. The views are underwhelming but we were there to sleep and work - although we did get to enjoy a view into the trailer park……
