“Overall, I had a pleasant stay. The hotel is pet friendly and welcoming to service animals, which was a big plus. One thing to know before visiting is that dogs are not allowed on the beach in Kill Devil Hills from 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. during the summer. That’s a town rule, not the hotel’s policy, but it’s helpful to know. The hotel is cute, newly renovated, and has accessible first floor rooms. Otherwise, there are only stairs. “The breakfast wasn’t appealing. Didn’t eat anything. The parking was tight and not enough spaces. The pool was ok but the where you lean on the edge was very rough. My granddaughter had a big red area with marks on her back from rubbing the edge. Asked for room service while we were out for the day to change the linens and all they did was leave towels. They didn’t even take the used towels. There wasn’t chairs at every room like in the pictures. We made it work for the three days we were……

“I stayed here in the early 1980s, when I was in my early teens. It has been upgraded since then, but still provided that wonderful nostalgic feeling I had when I first visited the Outer Banks! I wanted my kids to experience this as well, so we booked a room for several days. We stayed in a courtyard room, which was still very quiet and comfortable, despite being next to the entrance drive. “The staff was excellent and the breakfast was good. The rooms were a little dated but clean. The elevators were weird and a little inconvenient but it’s a small thing. All and all a good stay.”

“Great location but accommodations were poor…floors were dirty, shower leaked and pull out sofa was the worst thing ever (dirty sheet covering mattress). Housekeeping was terrible, left $10 tip but when returned to room, tip was gone but nothing was cleaned…no clean towels or linens and trash was not removed.”

“This property is old but quaint. The room was clean and the bed comfortable. The bathroom has an old-time sink and there is no flat space for the things you use in the bathroom. We were on the second floor of three but there is no elevator. The breakfast choice was unique and great. You receive a certificate for a local restaurant. Overall we would stay again.”
