“A busy friendly pub hotel that made us feel very welcome. Very clean, very large comfy bed. A quiet large warm room and clean bathroom. Staff were friendly and obliging and breakfast delicious. Loved the fact a table at dinner was reserved even without asking and then you could choose not to take it. We did and the menu was varied in a dining room that took good COVID precautions. We enjoyed our dinner. Really great value for money and would definitely recommend.”
“Fabulous place to stay. Bedrooms very high standard. Breakfast pre ordered and delivered to your room at the requested time. You can change your choice each day but we kept it the same. Staff were very friendly and checked with us that everything was ok and did we need anything more. If we are this way again I will definitely book this again. Parking was easy as the main street has loads of parking.”
“Luckily our stay was during the good weather, the pool and sauna was good but, think it could have been quite bleak if it had been rainy.
Our room looked tired and the 2 seater couch was very grubby and the cushions were sunken.
The restaurant looked like a staff canteen with all the formica tables and the food was very disappointing, no Michelin chef here! The food was cold and bland, breakfast was not cooked to order, that was also cold. I ordered porridge one morning , the waitress assured……
“Expedia does not tell you they don’t answer phone calls from foreign numbers & they have no front desk/ staff on site so only way to communicate is thru Expedia. I couldn’t get continental breakfast because Expedia blocks emails & they couldn’t send me payment link. No food or beverage available on site or within walking distance. Food delivery was lame, cash only & no utensils. Decent shower, bed & wifi”
“The Anchor was a convenient stay for us as we needed to be close to the ferry to take us to Isla. The staff were very pleasant and check-in was easy. Parking was across the street and convenient as well. The rooms are very small and dated but clean and comfortable. There is a pub next door and many people were enjoying the World Cup so it got pretty noisy but we were able to sleep. We had a fabulous dinner in the Anchor's restaurant. I have a shellfish allergy and they were able to accommodate.……
“Very clean and extremely helpful staff.
I believe it is fairly obvious, but to climb either the front stairs, or follow the road to park a vehicle at the side of the hotel (beside red postbox) is fairly challenging for those of an elderly / infirm position.
Anyone younger, it is a great workout routine!

“Absolutely loved our stay at The Creggans Inn. The hotel is in a stunning location right on the lochside with ample parking and reasonably hidden secure parking for our motorcycles.
The check in was faultless and the rooms immaculate and very, very big with massive bathrooms.
The food was really good with a reasonable choice, We rated highly the comprehensive breakfast with ample juice, tea and coffee, Delicious fruit salad, hearty Scottish cooked breakfast and pastries ( although not all in one……
“George hotel locates in a lovely town with good scenery. Our room is big and clean. We spent a couple of good nights our room and it’s nice restaurant. ”
“Ardfern is a very pretty village and a great springboard to explore Argyll.
The decor is dark but there are tables outside and a great view of the loch from the picnic benches out back.
The bar area has a great feel and a regular stream of sailors from the local marina”
“Checked into our first room, toilet flush inop and a washing up bowl on the side with the toilet fixings hanging off. Reported to reception who moved us to another room with a sauna, sauna did not work, horrendous noise from the kitchen fans and no sea view which we had upgraded to. Back to reception for a second time and had to argue to get moved room again. Third room was terrible, smelt damp, curtains hanging off, paint peeling off walls and cracks in windows.
Only upside was the food was……

“Lovely views of Loch Awe. The driver wasn’t so happy about the long single track road but the other two enjoyed the solitude and quiet at the end of the road. Rooms are comfortable and all different.”
