Moseley Square is a lively and entertaining hub at the core of the Glenelg district of Adelaide. It is packed with shops, bars and cafés, with its side streets leading to the Glenelg Jetty and one of the city’s main commercial avenues. Visit Moseley Square to relax on the large paved area and enjoy the sun in this popular gathering spot.
Rush in and out of the fountains on the pavement with your kids to cool down in the summer heat. Enjoy the lively atmosphere and stay into the evening, when the bars and restaurants come alive. Pick up ice cream from a parlor and stroll along the adjacent sandy strand.
At the eastern end of the plaza is Jetty Road, which often hosts concerts and fireworks on New Year’s Eve. Visit the various boutiques lining the sides of the street to get a sense of local fashion trends. Reach the western end and pass through the square to reach the Glenelg Jetty. At the end of the pier stands a tower. Fishing enthusiasts often line the pier, waiting patiently for their catch of the day.
Some of Glenelg’s highlights border Moseley Square. Visit the Bay Discovery Centre in its northwestern corner for period costumes, antiques and other displays about the heritage of Adelaide. Bring your little ones to The Beachouse, and watch them rush down the slippery slides and into the pools.
Moseley Square is next to the coast at the western edge of Adelaide. It stands in the district of Glenelg, between Glenelg North and Glenelg South. Ride a bus to one of the nearby stops, a little inland from the Glenelg Jetty. You can also travel here by tram to Stop 17 Moseley Square.
While you’re in the area, consider exploring nearby sights such as West Beach Parks Golf, the Glenelg Golf Club and the Somerton Man Site.
