The best area to stay in Rakhai is the central village, particularly around the main square and the streets immediately surrounding it.This area is the heart of Rakhai, characterized by its traditional stone architecture, narrow winding streets, and a relaxed pace of life. The main square serves as a focal point, featuring a few local tavernas and cafes where you can experience Greek hospitality. It's also the gateway to exploring the scenic walking trails that branch out into the surrounding hills. Couples will appreciate the intimate setting and the opportunity for peaceful walks. For those seeking a more secluded experience, the accommodations on the outskirts of the central village, often located into the hillsides, offer stunning panoramic views of the valley and mountains. These options provide a sense of tranquility and privacy, ideal for travelers looking to unwind and enjoy the natural beauty of the region.

The best time to visit Rakhai is during the shoulder seasons of late spring (April to early June) and early autumn (September to October). These periods offer pleasant weather, with comfortable temperatures ideal for exploring the region's natural beauty and outdoor activities without the peak summer crowds. You'll find the landscapes lush in spring with wildflowers, and the sea is warm enough for swimming in early autumn. This timing allows for a more relaxed and enjoyable experience, whether you're hiking the trails or enjoying the coastal villages. For those who enjoy warmer temperatures and a livelier atmosphere, the summer months (July and August) are also suitable. While it can be quite warm, this is when the coastal areas are at their most active, with all services and attractions fully operational. It's an excellent time for beach holidays and water sports, though you should expect more visitors and potentially higher prices.
