“Rooms were dirty, mouldy walls, moudly curtains, previous guests make up and marks all over the headboard, a sink that took a day to drain, old tired bath that no one would ever want to relax in. Hooks hanging half out of the wall. Breakfast was poor, never seen a full English served with roast potatos and they tried to charge £2 for a coffee that isn't from a coffee press... The biggest joke here is that there were people complaining about the state of the rooms in front of us, with similar……

“We had a lovely stay in this welcoming and comfortable hotel. Excellent service and a beautiful breakfast. Nice gardens and plenty of parking. ”

“The staff at this hotel are excellent, very friendly and helpful. The rooms are comfortable. My only criticism of our stay is you now have to pay for parking separately which always used to be included.”

“Very clean room with plenty of tea making facilities and lots of hot water, fluffy towels and a comfortable bed. Helpful full length mirror in bedroom. Some of the communal areas look a bit tired, but staff welcoming and room was great for my needs (staying overnight in area ready for family get together). Great location for Hythe and walk along seafront short drive away.”

“We stayed for six nights, there was some fluff on the floor when we checked in, it was still there when we checked out! One evening, we had a decent lunch so only wanted a snack in the evening. We both had ham sandwiches which while nice ham, no attempt had been made to present them, for example, a salad garnish would have gone a long way. At breakfast the buffet was always running out of teaspoons, mugs for tea/coffee, marmalade, stupid things. One evening I went to use the disabled toilet,……

“I did not expect that the room would be detached from the pub and there was no one in the facility overnight. I had questions about how to turn on the heat but there was no one to ask. Staff person was very nice but when she checked me in and showed me the room I didn’t know it was going to get cold.”

“The manager and staff at this hotel go above and beyond. My wife is disabled and travelling can be a challenge. The folks here just go out of the way to make things as easy as they can. The accessible room is large and the bathroom with its roll in shower and shower stool is well designed and functional. Top marks to all the staff.”

“Whilst we only live 15 minutes away we have stayed here on several occasions as it is the perfect place for a night away. Everything makes you feel so relaxed and the team are very welcoming. It has a great atmosphere with good food and the breakfast is wonderful. The country setting is lovely too but within easy driving distance of the motorways, railway and ports. I would definitely recommend”

“Stayed two nights 26/27 March. The de luxe double was an excellent room very comfortable bed had a really good night sleep. Bath in the bathroom a positive. Breakfast on first day a full english really well cooked next day on the Saturday had eggs royale really good.”

“Good parking facilities. Hotel is right in town which is a real bonus. Staff were helpful and friendly. We did not have breakfast at the hotel so cannot comment on that. We went instead to a very charming cafe just for a change. Unfortunately the down side of the hotel are the rooms. We had a twin room, nice view and large. However the decor was very tired and frankly grubby. The bathroom was ok but if you tried turning round in the bath whilst having a shower you could, and I did, crack your……
