Arlington

This place could definitely use some TLC but overall nice property.Landscaping is overgrown, several guests stepped in dog poop in the backyard, blinds were torn in bathroom, some stains on furniture. Beds in downstairs rooms are uncomfortable, tile in downstairs shower uneven, almost cut my foot.All little things really but some attention to detail could make it a 5 star place.

The house exterior showed obvious wear and neglect -- peeling paint, mossy roof, broken shingles on the ground, broken shutters, missing light fixtures. A mis-sorted (and still-full) recycling bin was still on the street from at least 6 days earlier, untended. Inside, the smell (and taste) of mold was quite strong, and everywhere. We opened all doors and turned on the A/C, but the mold smell and taste persisted through our 4-night stay, giving all seven of us different levels of respiratory distress and irritated eyes/throat. The mold triggered a asthmatic reaction in one of our party, who had to move to a hotel in order to sleep or breathe. Bedroom windows were nailed shut and had no screens, so the only ventilation was the struggling central A/C. Bedroom "curtains" would neither raise nor open to allow in natural light. Ants and silverfish were throughout the kitchen and in some of the closets, and particularly in one bathroom upstairs. Bathrooms were quite dated and worn; towels were threadbare, and no washcloths could be found. Plates/glasses on the kitchen shelves were often dirty, some with caked-on food. On the screened porch, the cushions for the outside chairs were covered with black mold, and the screen door was ripped wide open.All 7 of us are frequent VRBO customers, with scores of rentals worldwide. This house was well below the usual VRBO standards, and not consistent with the cheery online listing. A most disappointing experience overall.
