5 stars?...no way!
When I booked the price was very high, but I figured that a Shangri-la resort on the beach might well be worth it. Right on arrival you notice is not a 350 dollar hotel, seems like and old hotel renewed a few years back and not a high class luxury resort. When walking to the room you get to see all the service area behind the hotel which is unpleasant to the view and not for a highclass place. Our room was an ocean view, but is so far from the ocean that you only see the garden and big tree in front of your balcony....and a small sea horizon far away. The restaurant has a very cheap breakfast, many things but nothing usually found on a five star place. the worst dissapointment was the beach. The ocean there is not pretty at all with no beach. And the hotel has a small protected area with sand that is probably not natural. Anyway the ocean is dirty and not very attractive. TWO GOOD THINGS (not of the hotel but the area) 1) don't miss eating seafood in downtown, where they have all the live seafood in clear view for you to choose very fresh! Best meal of the trip 2) We decided everyday to take the boat to the islands for spending the day. The islands are great and the beach and ocean wonderful. But this means we did not stay in our 5 star hotel, but on a public beach. If you decide to come to this area I would recommend to stay anywhere in town and just take a boat to the islands for the day and come back to sleep on a much cheaper hotel.
