The downstairs areas (reception, restaurant, grounds) were lovely but upstairs was quite the contrast. Room was functionally fine (except wall heater) but looked very dated.

Best Stay Ever!

We stayed here after our wedding and oh my goodness the service, the view, the atmosphere, the staff, the food!! The environment truly everything was amazing we will be back! It was our first time here too and everyone was so lovely!

Friendly staff made my stay at Healds Hall like a home from home experience. The food served in the restaurant was amazing and a large choice to suit every palate. I would definitely recommend this hotel and would almost certainly stay again !

Wonderful friendly service.

Wonderful friendly service, felt like staying with friends. Food was top notch too. Been a long time since we've stayed somewhere where the attention felt that personal, yet wasn't at all intrusive.

Overnight Stay

Really good customer service. I arrived late in the afternoon on Boxing Day, after a 4 hour drive, and one of the first things I was asked was had I eaten? Turns out it was a Boxing Day 3 course menu and the kitchen was just closing and the lady in reception wanted to ensure I could get something to eat rather than take a chance in the local area. Absolutely marvellous customer service and saved me a lot of faff. They allowed me to have what I wanted from the menu and tailored the price accordingly. Brilliant. And the food and service were top notch. Thank you for looking after this weary traveller.

Pictures Vs Reality Disappoint

I booked this hotel based on the excellent reviews and the pictures on the website. The room I was initially put in was tiny, tired, outdated and generally shappy - totally the opposite to the pictures on the website. The room was so cold I could see my breath! Having booked for 2 nights I checked availability and could see other rooms were available so went to reception to request to be moved only to be told they were fully booked, I questioned this and was told the website was incorrect, I persevered and was then told there was a room available and was moved to a refurbished room. The food was surperb but to preserve their reputation for travelling guests they should not be offering rooms of such an inadequate standard. Once moved my stay was pleasant but I won't be returning even though I visit this area for work frequently as I do not want to risk being allocated another room like the I was initially given.

Dont bother!

From the outside, the hotel looks lovely and inviting, however, when we opened the door to room 204, ‘The Snug’, the stench of damp hit us before we even stepped in and in fact we didn’t even bother going in. The staff at reception did apologise. Our second room, 109 did not smell but the carpet was so dirty that I placed a towel on it to get from the bed to the bathroom and the carpet had a burn ironed mark…you could see the exact shape of the iron! The plug for the bathroom sink was dirty as well as the bathtub one. The foam pillows were like bricks and the mattress was saggy. The gap under the door was so wide that the light came through like a strong nightlight. The room view was literally a brick wall and the cold air came through the window so badly that we put on the oil heater! The PAT test on the heater was 2021 and therefore out of service test date…potentially unsafe! Mirror light didn’t work. The heated towel rail didn’t work. Breakfast was poor. The fried eggs tasted like old veg oil and the hashbrown made the McDonalds version seem gourmet! The grilled tomatoes tasted of washing up liquid! I have never wanted to leave a hotel faster! Had we not arrived at 10pm, we would have tried to find another hotel. It’s hard to believe that it’s a wedding location! We did like the cool rattan tissue cover box though!
