Downtown Ottawa has plenty to keep you on the move, but don't restrict yourself to only one place. Arrange a set of wheels and hit the open road to discover what else awaits in the wider region. Here are a few ideas:

• Head to Montreal for an excellent sightseeing adventure. About 100 miles from Downtown Ottawa, it has many inspiring attractions such as Notre Dame Basilica.
• Your next stop? Make it Kingston, which is around 90 miles away. Kingston Waterfront is one local highlight you shouldn't miss.
• Venture into the great outdoors and take in the serenity at Sandbanks Provincial Park. It's about 130 miles from Downtown Ottawa.

If you don't have a driver's license issued in Canada, then you'll likely need to acquire an International Driving Permit (IDP) in your place of residence in order to rent a car.
