After watching a total of 60 teams get knocked out during numerous rounds of intense competition, we’ve reached the dramatic conclusion of the NCAA Women’s Basketball Tournament—the Final Four competition at Columbus, Ohio’s Nationwide Arena. The 4 remaining teams will battle it out on the hardwood for the chance to compete in one last heart-pounding game to earn the title of the best women’s college basketball squad in country.
Since 1982, the final showdown of the tournament has brought some of the most exciting, nail-biting, and star-making moments in women’s college sports. After all, this is the competition where Sheryl Swoopes brought home the 1993 win for Texas Tech, scoring more than half of the team’s total points. It’s the final round where stars like Sue Bird and Tamika Catchings faced off before later being named 2 of the WNBA’s Top 15 Players of All Time.
2018 is sure to be no different as fans flock to Columbus to watch their favorite teams go head-to-head in the Final Four. Will UConn, the tournament’s top-winning team, add another victory to their resume, or could South Carolina go on to repeat last year’s win? Or perhaps, could a Cinderella team shock us all to unexpectedly nab the national title? Don’t wait too long to grab your tickets, as the high-energy action is sure to sell out fast.
