All Notre Dame Fighting Irish Football Events

The Fighting Irish of Notre Dame are one of college football's most storied programs. Numerous shows and movies have been made about the college football team from South Bend, IN. Despite not playing in an official conference and remaining Independent, the school has been in some of college football's biggest games and won numerous accolades.

Luck of the Irish

The Fighting Irish can proudly claim 11 National Titles, seven Heisman winners, and 40 bowl game appearances in which they've won 18. The team plays its home games at Note Dame Stadium, one of college football's most iconic stadiums. It is known as the "House that Rockne Built" referring to legendary coach Knute Rockne, whose lent his guidance during the construction in 1930. The stadium also offers a view of "Touchdown Jesus" an iconic outdoor religious mural painted outside the school library.

Notre Dame's Rivals

Notre Dame has some of the most legendary rivalry games in college football history. The Fighting Irish have a longstanding rivalry game with the University of Southern California Trojans that has been played on the Saturday following Thanksgiving. The two schools have an illustrious history combining for a total of 24 National Championships and 14 Heisman Trophy winners. The two teams battle for the Jeweled Shillelagh, a trophy that the winning team takes home.

Two of the most decorated and recognizable programs in college football; the Michigan Wolverines and Notre Dame Fighting Irish first faced one another in 1897. Michigan leads the series 25-17. It was former Notre Dame students who were attending Michigan that taught students at Notre Dame the game.
