Greatest Coaches in the NFL

Joining the NFL as the Pittsburgh Pirates in 1933, the team struggled to make an impact for decades. It wasn’t until head coach Chuck Noll came into the picture did they Steelers completely shift their performance. Noll possessed an astounding talent for draft selections and chose many players that would later become Hall of Famers. After Noll was hired, the Steelers became the first team to win four Super Bowls in six years, as well as post a regular season streak of 49 wins from 1971 to 1979. Bill Cowher, who succeeded Noll in 1992, led the team to its fifth Super Bowl title after knocking out the Seattle Seahawks. In 2007, Mike Tomlin became the first African-American coach in Steelers history. He led the Steelers to their sixth Super Bowl title, becoming the youngest NFL coach to do so. The team went to their second Super Bowl under Tomlin’s coaching in 2011, but were unfortunately bested by the Green Bay Packers. All in all, the Steelers have compiled an overall record of 480-305-2, won their division 22 times, and took six out of eight Super Bowl titles. Heinz Field

The Steelers have called Heinz Field their home since 2001, when they moved there from Three Rivers Stadium. It stands along the Ohio river, on the Northside of Pittsburgh. The field also makes for a great concert venues, hosting shows from Bon Jovi, Kenny Chesney, Taylor Swift, U2, and other huge names in music. 65,050 seats are painted gold and dark gray, to tie into the colors of the team. The Great Hall, located in the east side of the stadium, is Steelers fan heaven. More than 40,000 square feet of Steelers memorabilia is housed there, featuring a timeline of major Steelers achievements, actual lockers from Hall of Fame Steelers players, and their six replica Super Bowl trophies.

The 2022 season will be the Pittsburgh Steelers' 90th in the National Football League and their 16th under head coach Mike Tomlin. This will be the first time since 2003 that long-time quarterback Ben Roethlisberger will not be on the roster, as he announced his retirement on January 27, 2022.It will also be the first season since 1999 that long-time GM Kevin Colbert will not be the general manager of the Steelers, as he announced on January 28, 2022 that after 22 years with the organization, he would step down following the 2022 NFL Draft. He was succeeded by Omar Khan as general manager and Andy Weidl as assistant general manager on May 25, 2022.
