Along with the Seattle Seahawks, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers were founded in 1976 as an expansion team to the NFL. The Buccaneers are the first post-merger expansion team to win a division title, win a playoff game, and to host and play in a conference championship game; which were all accomplished during the 1979 season. Despite their momentous start, the Buccaneers suffered through 14 consecutive seasons before experiencing a 10-year period where they were a consistent playoff contender and won Super Bowl XXXVII at the end of the 2002 season. Along with the New Orleans Saints and the New York Jets, the Buccaneers are the only NFL team to win their lone Super Bowl appearances. Over the course of their 41 seasons have compiled a regular season record of 250-393-1 and a playoff record of 6-9.
