With tickets to any of the Globetrotters’ more than 400 annual events, you can experience all the action, entertainment, and hilarity of this legendary exhibition team for yourself.

Harlem Globetrotters History & Shows

Founded in Chicago by a group of African-American high school friends in the mid-1920s, the Globetrotters caught the attention of coach and businessman Abe Saperstein, who later helped the team tour around Illinois and Iowa. Though the team was formed in Chicago, Saperstein wanted to give the group a more intriguing, out-of-town name, and he chose Harlem since it was considered the center of African-American culture at the time. In fact, the Globetrotters didn’t even play in Harlem until 1968, 4 decades after their formation.

The Globetrotters played more seriously in the beginning and were consistent participants in the World Professional Basketball Tournament. But by 1941, the team had started to integrate comic routines into their act, and soon they were known more for entertainment than for sport. While today, the Globetrotters are purely an exhibition team with parts of each game pre-planned, that doesn’t undermine their athletic ability. As a matter of fact, there are several incredible Trotters who have gone on to have illustrious careers in the NBA, including Wilt Chamberlain and Connie Hawkins. In 2018, get tickets to see the Globetrotters lights up the court as they travel throughout North America to cities such as Charlotte, Minneapolis, Montreal, Des Moines, and Toronto.
