Songwriter To Musician

Old Dominion is made up of Matthew Ramsey, Trevor Rosen, Whit Sellers, Geoff Sprung, and Brad Tursi. Their name comes from their respective ties to the state of Virginia. Ramsey and Sellers played on the drumlines for respective rival high schools. Ramsey met Rosen in 2003 at Virginia Commonwealth University, where they formed a songwriting relationship. Sellers met Sprung and Tursi at James Madison University. The band’s first focus was to showcase songs that individual band members had written. After all, the band is filled with credited songwriters. Tursi has written songs for Luke BryanRandy HouserKenny Chesney, and more. Ramsey is credited with writing music for The Band PerryBlake Shelton and other big country artists. Old Dominion’s first song that gained significant attention was “Dirt on a Road”. Their debut self-titled EP peaked at No. 33 on the Top Country Albums chart. The music video for the lead single, “Shut Me Up”, features country singer Whitney Duncan. “Break Up with Him” was played on Sirius XM’s “The Highway”, supporting it to become their first hit song. RCA Nashville signed Old Dominion in February of 2015. Later that year, their debut album Meat and Candy was released, with “Snapback” reaching No. 2 on Country Airplay. During the release of the album, “Break Up with Him” reached No. 1 on Country Airplay. In 2017, the lead single to their second studio album with RCA Nashville took the No. 1 spot on Country Airplay. The band embarked on their Happy Endings World Tour to support the album alongside Michael RayGranger Smith and High Valley.
