Spend time with a Geiko at Japan's oldest hot springs

Arima Onsen –one of the oldest and most famous hot spring resorts in all of Japan. The water quality is so fine that it is known as one of Japan's three great hot springs. When it comes to Geiko and Maiko, Kyoto is the city that comes to mind, but you can catch a glimpse of this glamorous world in Arima Onsen too, at a traditional dance event held once per season in a cafe(four times per month). Arima is also highly convenient, being just 30 minutes from the Kobe city center or 75 minutes from Kyoto by bus. A stay in a ryokan (traditional Japanese inn) is recommended, but you can also enjoy a day trip, strolling through the old-fashioned town and warming your feet in the free "ashiyu" (hot spring baths for feet) before returning in the evening.
