It’s a basic hotel chain but all the staff I came into contact with were friendly knowledgeable (I asked for recommendations on places to eat) kind to my children and generally a really good bunch. Holiday inn have got a great team working there.

We travel around the world and stayed in tones of hotels. And I am afraid to say this is probably one of the worst 4* hotels that I have ever come across! More like a 2*! The room (206) is old, dirty and in very poor condition. We booked a non-smoking room and could smell someone had smoked in the room previously. The window could be opened fully as the latch had been broken. And we could see lots of cigarette burning marks on the window sills outside. Carpet was filthy. Furnitures were old. Skirting board was scratched and marked. Bathroom has mould and damp marks between tiles. Some tiles were broken. TV was tiny and blurry. Only one bottle of water in the room when there were two of us. Had to ask for one more at the reception. Breakfast was very average. Had to ask staff for more milk for the cereals as the container was empty and not refilled. Only positive is that the Receptionist Ella was very good.

Restaurant not always open. Nice if they offered a small selection of snacks. Always, welcome, good rooms and beds comfortable Breakfast a good choice of items hot and cold . A good basic hotel in a handy place near the port/town.

Just missed my ferry and the next one was 06:40 the next day. So, hotel nearby. Holliday Inn in Calais is very good, great location and a few min drive from P&O ferries.

Ok but …
Room was very comfortable and well-equipped. Couple of problems. Dirty towels left in a linen bag in the wardrobe. Not enough towels in the room. Man on reception was a bit odd and didn’t speak good English but we got there in the end. Broken glass on entrance door was off-putting. Also very difficult to park on street outside on a Saturday evening because customers from local bars etc. were parked.

Our stay did not get of to a good start the first room we were allocated smelt very strongly of cigarettes but we spoke to a very nice receptionist who checked the room and immediately apologised and upgraded us to a very lovely room on the top floor. Excellent customer service all done with a smile. Will stay here again. Great choice of breakfast options

Nice family room and rooms and staff all excellent. Communal areas a little less good and breakfast “ok” - basic and coffee poor. Good free parking around. Local area a bit untidy. Convenient for port and tunnel though.

Highly recommended - stayed after 26 hours of continuous travel. Check-in was easy. Room was quiet and clean. Beds extremely comfortable. Best breakfast we have had at a Holiday Inn. We did not use complimentary drinks but great touch. Family friendly. 6 blocks from Calais-Ville train station - easy walk.

Couldn’t stay because zero parking in town
I checked in just to realize there were no parking spots due to an event in the area that day . We drove hours and were just looking for s place to spend the night. I booked the room two hours before arrival. When we got to town we realized that there was a big event happening but thought it was ok since hotels.com filer showed this hotel as “parking available”.I can’t really evaluate. The guy at reception tried to help, but he could do very little. There was zero alerts about parking being off site- I filtered the hotel by parking availability. So , it was impossible to recover the money and I blame hotels.com for making impossible to recover it and for not having a means to alert people correctly about the facilities of the place.

This was the third holiday inn we stayed in during our holiday in France. We didn’t pay for breakfast but was shocked if we did want breakfast it would have been £13 per person. Other Holiday inns we stayed in offered free breakfast or 6.50 per person! This by far was the most tired decor. Room v small. Air con did not blow out any cool air. Inside of kettle full of scale. No hotel parking just street parking. We woke at 2am with lots of noise outside, we were concerned the riots had come to Calais!! But as we listened it must have been a night club as the music and noise stopped by 3am!! Would never stay again.

This hotel is relatively comfortable, clean and very handy for the ferry. Unfortunately, there are some issues which need to be addressed. In spite of it being a non-smoking hotel, our room smelt of smoke when we arrived and safety catches on the windows mean they can only be opened a fraction. The air conditioning was out of order during our stay and the room was very hot. Unlike previously, it seems you now have to pay extra for a room overlooking the sea, so we had a room at the back with a very much less attractive view and a lot of noise throughout the night from the town. We’ve stayed here many times before, but will probably now look elsewhere in Calais.

Luckily I stayed there (me and 2 other people and a dog)! The room was terrible… I paid for the room including the air conditioning service, too bad it didn't work… Also in the bathroom you could clearly see the mold on the ceiling. Once I went to reception I found a rather snooty man who gave me a frown when I asked for a fan and explained that the air conditioning didn't seem to work. At this point the receptionist told me that an air conditioning technician would come the next day to fix it as the whole hotel had the same problem. pity that both in the evening and in the morning, in the corridors of the hotel and in the reception / breakfast area, the air conditioning worked perfectly. Poor quality breakfast. If you declare that the hotel is pet friendly but then (probably) assign the most indecent room in the hotel for this reason, then you have not understood anything. We paid like all the other hotel guests, even more given the presence of the dog (the only correct thing). I strongly advise against it
