Good stay for a couple of days.
Staff was very friendly, knowledgeable and helpful. Room was spacious, traditional decor, some minor re-tweeking needs to be done. Mattress was worn out. Breakfast was plentiful, but could have had a kettle in the room. Great location for hotel - 10 minute walk from main center and tube.

There was only 1 shower door in the bathroom. T-shirt from previous person who had stayed was found down the side of the bed. Comfortable beds. Hotel looked tired in general. Sauna facility was very good, however lacking information in rooms and mis-communication with staff.

It was ok.
Room was not the cleanest or biggest, but for a solo trip when I wasn’t in the hotel much it did fine. Private sauna was great though and was great after a long days walking.

If all you need for your break is somewhere to sleep and shower this is perfect, as single room was very basic, but hotel is located on a quiet road, in easy walking distance of many attractions and also cafés, bars and restaurants

Go windowless, it’ll be ok.
I wanted to go back to Stockholm and needed a bargain in order to do it. The Alexandra Hotel offered a great, cost-effective option - a window-less room. The room is small. The desk and bathroom might actually be the same size (the shower had amazing water pressure, however). Not having a window? The good thing - it can be any time of the day or night. The bad thing - it can be anytime of the day or night. Bring an alarm and be prepared to use it. And be prepared to pry yourself out of bed in the pitch darkness. The sun will not come in through a window to wake you or motivate you to get up. The location is great. Close to restaurants, shopping, the T-bana (Mariatorget), and the Pendeltåg (Södra South). The staff is incredibly nice and exceptionally efficient. If you need a bargain option, the Alexandra is a great choice.

Good location
The hotel needs a total refurbishment, carpets are stained & dirty. Pillows were also stained although bed linen seemed clean, very tired & dated, the only good thing was the staff, very friendly & helpful

Alexandra hotel is located in very nice part of the city relatively well connected with the modes of transport. The beds in the hotel are very comfortable but the bathroom is not nice at all. it is clean but not very comfortable and very old. The breakfast is cheap for Stockholm but very poor (only bread, butter and jam, some hum and cheese). The service was excellent though. The receptionists provided what ever kind of support we actually asked for including glasses for the wine.

Alexandra hotel stay.
The hotel was disappointing. Many of the things that are offered in other- similar -hotels, such as a mat in the bathroom, hand towels, glass glasses, a decent sized shower, are unavailable. Also the fact that the breakfast is not included and has to be paid in advance, doesn't seem to be right. Either include it in the rate, or say you don't when advertising it. The area in which the hotel is located isn't the best, but is good in the sense there is good transportation available. The reception personnel are very good, however. When looking at the picture of the hotel on the website, it looks like a large place , when it is really only one floor, yes, I know there is another floor hidden.

Hotel is situated on a road that is away from the hustle and bustle of tourism but not at all far. Two stations in walking distance. The hotel itself is a quirky designed building which I loved.I booked a twin room. Room size was good. Unfortunately the shower door was broken so each time we used the shower water ran everywhere. It made the whole shower/toilet room uncomfortable to be in. No air vent in there also meant we had to keep bathroom door open. Breakfast was worth the money in comparison to outdoor prices. They had cereals, boiled eggs, tea/coffee, breads, fruit, hams and cheese. You could help yourself to as much as you like. There was also a lot of noise due to building works which begin very early in the morning. Staff did their job - polite, helpful but not very warm.

The hotel is not clean, you must ask for the hotel clerk to let you in to the lobby bathrooms, no elevator, there's a spiral staircase and no offer from staff to help with your bags to the room!! Gay magazines in the lobby, linens smell like sweat!!! Carpet is filthy! You get 2 towels, no soap, when they replace your towels you get ONE!! Beds are horrible!

Pleasantly surprised
The bad reviews worried us but are largely unjustified. Our room was bright and clean and the bathroom was large with a good shower. Staff were friendly and helpful and the location was good. The exterior of the hotel really let's it down, could be rectified with a good clean and replace those tatty flags

Impossible to contact hotel staff.
Though I did not want a reinbursement, I asked to change the date of my reservation. It was so difficult to get in touch with hotel staff to even decide if we could make the changes, that I stopped insisting. I lost my reservation and never stayed in the hotel. I would definetely not book it again.

Alexandra Hotel is a small, fairly basic hotel but comfortable, clean and in a good location- only ca 5 minutes' walk from Medborgarplatsen metro station with excellent connections to the rest of the city. It is also very easy to walk from the hotel into the city. Sodermalm is a very interesting, vibrant part of Stockholm with beautiful views over the city, masses of coffee bars and restaurant. It is also not overly "touristy" like some parts of Stockholm. I will probably stay there again as it is quite reasonably priced as well.

No-frills, friendly accommodations in Sodermalm
Our room was clean and comfortable, with plain but nice bedding and decor. The blackout window drapes were really helpful since the sun doesn't really set until 11pm in the summertime. We were on the first floor, facing the street, so there was some noise from people outside at night. It was easy to walk up to the Old Town (Gamla Stan) area in 15 minutes or so. The front desk staff is friendly, and helped us find inexpensive transportation options on the train and buses in the area.

I am astonished that this place had three stars. It is BY FAR a one star hotel. It's gross. Our room looked NOTHING like any of the pictures. I'm pretty sure the prisons in Sweden are nicer than this place. The beds were very uncomfortable and the room's furnishings were old, dusty, and dank. The staff was awful; they seemed to delight in telling us "no." We asked for an extra pillow ("No, we have none"). We asked for a fan to help circulate the stale air in the room ("No, we don't do that."). The neighborhood was less than inviting as well. We actually had locals sitting on their balconies staring and glaring as we approached the hotel initially. Creepy. And the icing on the cake?: There was a huge construction site literally right outside our window that started pounding away at 7am. Yikes. Do yourself a favor and skip this hotel. I know it's cheap but for what it was they should be paying people to stay here.

Bargain hotel, great for the price!
For a nice, convenient, affordable stay in Stockholm it is a great deal. Older facilities could use a face-lift, more than outweighed by price and location--quick walk 2 different subway lines, and around the corner from lots of good food.

Great for the price. Close to all downtown /transit which I needed. Staff was very helpful.Breakfast was excellent!!! There was a smell though being on the bottom floor from the sewer. I closed my bathroom door to avoid. Needs to be addressed. I would return again.

an outstading value in the swedish capital. from the stockholm sodra commuter rail stop ==one stop south of central station, the hotel is about 120 meters to your right. coming from central station, walk backwards to the exit; not luxurious, but immaculate and very easy to find. had another hotel booked for my return to the city, and changed it to stay here: if spending more than a night or two, you may want to opt for a bit more luxury, expecting; of course; to pay a higher price: great breakfast; too: super market across the street corridors and trappings in rooms have seen a lot or wear

my stay at the hotel was not that nice as my room was stinky due to the shower room(stank from the drain)the housekeeping was done after 14.00 they missed to change my towel and do my bed once. the TV was small and in a bad condition.I wanted to cancel my stay after 2 nights but the hotel manager refused to pay me back my booking as they do not have a refund policy,therefore I had to remain at the hotel. poor sanitary facility. not only that the card that serves as key was always demagnetized which is very unpleasant especially if you are out late at night in the cold and cannot enter the premise.

I've never stayed at a hotel like this before. Larger than a capsule hotel, but barely bigger than a bed and a combined shower/bathroom. It's a good deal for the price, but the hotel charged me an extra day due to my accidental booking. I tried to ask for a refund to no avail. It was my fault to be sure, but it would be nice if they refunded me. The hotel staff is impossible to contact over the phone either.

Friendly welcome at check in. Easy 3 minute walk from nearest metro station. Nice buffet breakfast. Room small but adequate. Good value for money in pricey city as long as you are not looking for luxury accommodation.

Watch out for unexpected Breakfast charges, they do not tell you breakfast is extra until you check out. Last time I stayed Breakfast was free, now they charge you but post no signs.

Reliable and economic hotel
As with most of the hotels I stayed at, this one was chosen based on proximity to the central train station. Although one has to take the Tunnelbana(Stockholms subway) it is only 3 stops from central station. And about 5 blocks from Medborgplatsen is the Alexandra. Nicely maintained hotel with a courteous and helpful reception. The bed was not that comfortable as the top part kept sliding off. Still good value ,excellent wi-fi and location makes the Alexandra a good choice for those that are frugal or on a budget,
