Getting around Nashville

You will definitely find it easiest to get around Nashville with a car, so seriously consider renting one if you can. Do note, though, that alternatives are available, although they certainly won’t be as convenient. The public bus system covers most of the key areas of the city and will get you to and from the airport. Taxis are another option. Book one or hail one of the many in the city center. Visit the Nashville Metropolitan Transit Authority website. Browse Nashville rental cars.

Best time to visit

The best time to visit Nashville depends on your priorities. The weather is at its most pleasant in spring and fall, and prices for accommodations may be lower then, too. However, the peak season of summer sees the city come alive with a range of festivals and cultural events worth braving the heat for. Just make sure you come prepared for sizzling temperatures, sometimes even as high as 90 F (32 C).

We only stayed one night and didn't really go anywhere, but I did like the hotel's location near Vanderbilt. I knew there would be coffee and food within walking distance if needed.

We loved Broadway. Unfortunately our good time was spoiled by the rioting. Very disappointing. I know that's not the city's fault. The cops responded very well.

Nashville is expensive. Don't forget your wallet. The city is warm, friendly and full of fun and FULL of traffic! I lived in the Bay Area of California for many years and the Nashville traffic is worse.
