I like the property but…. The first cottage we were put in had a water plumbing issue so the toilet wouldn’t flush and the shower would not run. The moved us to another cottage that was about equal to the first but was a little bit smaller. It’s seemed fine until it was time to go to bed so I pulled out the sofa bed my daughter was going to sleep on to find it had quite a bit of mice droppings on the mattress. So my daughter had to sleep with us. They did come in and “clean” the next day… No mouse droppings but still was dirty and dingy. So to have that those 2 things happen and the black ants on the counter tops I would not stay there again. Kinda a shame to have paid around $250 a night at a supposedly nice community to have to put up with things like that. But you live and you learn. Money is down the drain but I won’t be back. Hope y’all find this useful.

It was a mixed experience. The grounds are beautiful and really well maintained and the facilities are excellent - really nice pool, extensive tennis courts with a club feel and beautiful (but expensive) golf courses along with a good driving range. The staff were very friendly. So far so good. However, the properties are very dated and so not a very enjoyable experience to stay in them. They are clean but they get limited sunlight so have a dingy feel and you wouldn’t want to spend much time in them. The fixtures and fittings are old - even the hairdryer was ancient and smoked - the kitchen had a borderline musty smell - it needs a very big overhaul. Because of the size of the property they offer a golf cart service to get to the various places but this required calling for a cart but for whatever reason the phone numbers dont work with any UK phone. In addition there were no phones in the units to be able to contact reception /concierge. So it was problematic getting to places particularly given the heat. It was also a bit odd that everything shut down at 9pm $49 plus sales tax daily additional charge applied, but for whatever reason i could not fathom

I didn’t like the phone system. It was most unhelpful always assuming I knew who I wanted to talk to rather than addressing my question or concern. I never contacted anyone via the system. I had to relate my problems while paying my bill. The room service was not much better than getting food delivered by DoorDash. The food was good, but plastic eating utensils. Really! It was disappointing when you pay $400.+ a night. Lovely room. However, the temperature was set on 65 when we arrived and didn’t change much when we raised the temperature to 72. It was extremely cold on a day when the outside temps were in the 90’s. Only my third stay in 50 years. Quite a step down over the years.

The hotel is historic and updates made are just enough to make for an ok stay. If a family needs a full kitchen, washer/dryer, then this may be the hotel for you. The room was clean, but if you reserve a room with a king bed and queen pull out bed, beware you may not get a good night's sleep in the pull out bed. The bed was very plastic material like and hard. The hallways of the hotel smelled of mold and dampness and very dated. The pool and fitness room seemed nice from a distance; however, we didn't have time to utilize. The arcade room that is advertised is pay to play and not included within the amenities. Staff seemed very annoyed at questions and did not give off a very hospitable vibe. We stayed one night and switched hotels for the second night of our stay in Williamsburg.
