Long known for beach, sun, and family fun, Florida’s largest Gulf-side city is back on the rise with notable dining, innovative art, and fresh attractions
KEY NEIGHBORHOODS
South Tampa
THE VIBE
This mostly residential area spans multiple neighborhoods, made primarily for those willing to pay top dollar for beautifully manicured parks and streets, plenty of fun things to do, close proximity to great restaurants and shopping, and, of course, a stylish mansion or two. Stay at the Palihouse Hyde Park Village to be in one of South Tampa’s most coveted lifestyle districts, Hyde Park Village.
Where to stay
Ybor City
THE VIBE
This historic neighborhood’s main street might remind some of a mini Bourbon Street with its wrought-iron balconies and row of lively bars. But beyond the nightlife, Ybor City also has a rich past to explore. Orient yourself at the Ybor City Museum or with a historic walking tour, and then head to J.C. Newman Cigar Company where, among its three floors of exhibits, visitors can experience the art of cigar making firsthand.
Where to stay
Channel District
THE VIBE
Once a failing warehouse district, this waterfront neighborhood—just steps from downtown—is popular for its hip dining (like the beloved Sparkman Wharf), luxury high rises, and alluring bar scene. Stay in the heart of the action to be within walking distance to top venues and attractions like Amalie Arena, Port of Tampa, Tampa Convention Center, Florida Aquarium, and Tampa Riverwalk.
