Discover South Florida's top activities, dining spots, and accommodations to plan your perfect honeymoon
A South Florida honeymoon works especially well if you want two different moods in one trip. You can start with the colour, beaches and city energy of Miami, then finish with the slower, more relaxed pace of Palm Beach. Together, they give you a mix of ocean views, art, shopping, and romantic downtime without losing that special-trip feel.
A South Florida honeymoon isn’t just one thing, and that is exactly the appeal. You don’t need to choose between culture, relaxation and beaches, because this place has it all. Miami brings bold design, lively neighborhoods, and memorable days out, while Palm Beach leans into elegant beaches, resort time, and slower evenings.
That contrast is what makes the pairing work. You can begin with a few nights of excitement and variety, then shift into a more restful finish where you can unwind in style.

Miami Beach's walkable sites and Art Deco architecture provide a scenic backdrop for your honeymoon.
If you want to stay close to the sand, Miami Beach is the most obvious base. But if you’d rather stay somewhere a little quieter and more residential, Coconut Grove gives you a leafier waterfront feel while keeping the city within easy reach.
Plan at least one day around South Beach, where the beach, Art Deco setting, and walkable sites all make it an easy honeymoon favorite. For a change of pace, spend an afternoon at Vizcaya Museum and Gardens in Coconut Grove. The estate sits on Biscayne Bay and was originally built in 1916, with formal gardens that still feel wonderfully cinematic for a honeymoon day out.
If you want to add more color and texture to your trip, make time for the Wynwood Art District. The area is known for murals, galleries, and a creative, walkable spcae that contrasts nicely with the beach side of the city.
After Miami, Palm Beach is a natural place to exhale. This part of your honeymoon is less about packing in as much as possible and more about enjoying the setting: beach time, great service, long walks, and a room in your schedule for doing very little at all.
Worth Avenue is still the classic place for shopping and a dressed-up afternoon, with boutiques, cafés, and a chic Palm Beach atmosphere a short walk from the water. For something quieter, the Lake Trail is one of the most romantic simple pleasures in the area, with water views and glimpses of the island’s historic side along the way.
If you want a livelier evening without losing that honeymoon vibe, cross over to Downtown West Palm Beach, where the waterfront, Clematis Street, and nearby shopping-and-dining districts give you more choice in a compact area.

Stroll to Worth Avenue Clock Tower and admire Palm Beach's sweeping sea views.
In Miami, the easiest places to look first are South Beach and Coconut Grove. South Beach suits couples who want a high-energy evening and plenty of options within walking distance, while Coconut Grove feels more relaxed, intimate, and closer to nature.
On the Palm Beach side, different areas suit different moods. Worth Avenue works well for a sophisticated dinner-and-stroll kind of evening, while Downtown West Palm Beach is better if you want variety and an animated night out around Clematis Street and nearby entertainment areas. If you’re looking for a dedicated date-night stretch with plenty of restaurants close together, Delray Beach is a great addition thanks to Atlantic Avenue and the nearby Pineapple Grove Arts District.
For many couples, the easiest time to plan a South Florida honeymoon is late fall through spring, when the weather is generally gentler for beach time, walking, and outdoor dinners. Summer can still work if you are happy to trade higher heat and more frequent rain for thinner crowds and, often, better value.
Just remember, it’s worth keeping hurricane season in mind when you book. The Atlantic hurricane season runs from June 1 to November 30, with the wildest stretch usually falling between August and October.

A sleek rooftop terrace with a pool boasts stunning views of the turquoise ocean.
Choose Miami Beach if ocean access is the priority and you want a classic honeymoon backdrop close to the beach. For a quieter, more luxurious stay just north of the main action, Four Seasons Hotel at The Surf Club is a fantastic choice for newlyweds.
Choose Coconut Grove if you want a more tucked-away base with a waterfront feel and easy access to cultural sights. Mayfair House Hotel & Garden works especially well if you want a romantic boutique feel with design details and a rooftop pool.
For the second half of the trip, Palm Beach is the best fit for honeymooners seeking classic resort calm, beach clubs, and a more refined setting. The Breakers Palm Beach is the standout choice if you want full resort luxury for the more relaxed half of your itinerary.
West Palm Beach is the smarter base if you want a walkable downtown, more casual flexibility, and quick access to the island as well as restaurants, shopping, and the waterfront. Hotel AKA West Palm is a great match if you want something upscale but still close to the city’s dining and waterfront areas.
