Melanie Fish, head of Expedia Group brands public relations: <\/strong>\u201cHotels.com\u2019s Hotels of the Year trend, Salvaged Stays, was born out of a rigorous, global analysis. We looked at internal traveler data to identify which properties are seeing the biggest spikes in interest year-over-year, and then we did research into what the hottest new hotels opening have in common.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Restored landmark buildings, architectural relics getting a second life \u2014 this blend of original character with modern, intentional design lets travelers step into a story. I lived the Salvaged Stays trend in 2025 \u2014 some of my most memorable stays last year were in a former strip club, jail, post office and palace. You don\u2019t want to feel like you could be just anywhere when you\u2019re inside a hotel room. Travelers are seeking out Salvaged Stays because they provide a sense of place and history that makes a trip that much more memorable.\u201d <\/p>\n\n\n\n
