With more than a third (37%) of Americans reporting they travel more for work now than they did prior to the COVID-19 pandemic, Hotels.com has launched a new <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hotels.com\/product\/business?brandcid=HCOM-GLOBAL.COMMS.SOCIAL.HBT.HOTEL\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">business travel experience<\/a> globally, designed to make work trips faster and easier to book.&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Available through the Hotels.com website and app, travelers can now save their work-trip preferences, find business-ready hotels, rebook preferred stays and earn rewards on business trips\u2014all within the same Hotels.com account they use for personal travel.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>According to the new Hotels.com Booked for Business report*, which unpacks business travel trends and preferences, the top findings include:&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Business travel is back. <\/strong>Travelers spend an average of 10 nights a year on work trips, with tech workers and tradespeople traveling the most frequently.&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Finance ($134) and Tech ($131) workers report the highest per diems,<\/strong> exceeding the overall spending limit average of $115 per day, while government workers receive the lowest at less than $79 per day.&nbsp;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Bleisure is now expected, not an add-on.<\/strong> Nearly two-thirds (63%) say the best business travel destinations make it easy to blend work and leisure, with New York, Los Angeles and Miami as the top-ranked destinations.&nbsp;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>June and September are the new power-travel months<\/strong>, emerging as the busiest times of year for business trips.&nbsp;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Gen Z is redefining the business travel experience. <\/strong>They travel for work more than any other generation, are the most likely to change their behavior on the road, use hotel laundry services, and switch hotel brands. Meanwhile, Boomers stand out as the most punctual and hotel-loyal travelers.&nbsp;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Forget upgrades. Business travelers want breakfast. <\/strong>Free breakfast (49%) outranks loyalty rewards (39%) and flexible check-in (37%) as the most valued hotel perk.&nbsp;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cBusiness travel is no longer just about getting from one meeting to the next,\u201d said Melanie Fish, Vice President of Global PR and Hotels.com travel expert. \u201cTravelers want a hotel and destination that can keep up with both sides of their personality\u2014from high-speed Wi-Fi and an early breakfast before a big presentation to a great location and a comfortable place to unwind afterward.\u201d&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Who is Powering Business Travel?<\/strong>&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Tech workers and tradespeople are today&#8217;s most frequent business travelers, averaging five to six work trips each year. Tech workers, in particular, travel 50% more often than they did before the pandemic and enjoy some of the highest travel budgets. The average hotel budget is $236 per night, rising to $264 for tech professionals.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Workplace Travel Superlatives:<\/strong>&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Most likely to hit the hotel gym:<\/strong> Journalism and publishing \u2014 60% say that a great gym is what makes a hotel stay great.&nbsp;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Most likely to network at the hotel bar: <\/strong>Sales and Marketing \u2014 52% say a great hotel bar is a defining feature of a great work trip.&nbsp;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Most likely to work from 35,000 feet: <\/strong>Finance and tech employees take the longest flights on average.&nbsp;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Most likely to switch work personas: <\/strong>Tech employees are the most likely to \u201cmode switch\u201d\u2014 or adopt a different personality at work \u2014 with 69% saying they do so. Meanwhile, consultants were the one industry to say they don\u2019t have a defined per diem.&nbsp;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>From Boardroom Boss to Vacay Princess&nbsp;<\/strong>&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Hotels.com report also reveals that today\u2019s business travelers are not just changing their schedules when they travel for work; they are changing their personalities. 56% of&nbsp; U.S. travelers admit to showing a different side of themselves when on work trips \u2014 and the number rises to 69% among Gen Zers.&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In \u2018work mode\u2019 and on business trips many Americans lean into a more focused, structured type A personality, while in their personal lives and on vacation it&#8217;s all about that type B energy.
