For better or for worse, dads\u2019 bodies\u2014with all our love handles, all their blemishes\u2014are the vessels through which we live our busy lives. As much as these bodies have changed over the years, they\u2019re still ours, still us. And they still can help us accomplish incredible things, such as raising awareness and money for an important cause.<\/p>\n

That\u2019s why I developed The #Dadbod Challenge<\/a>\u2014a fun social media campaign that is part of this year’s\u00a0Movember<\/a>.<\/p>\n

You know Movember\u2014the annual month-long effort to raise awareness of and money for a variety of men\u2019s health issues specifically prostate cancer, testicular cancer, mental health and suicide prevention. Well, the #Dadbod Challenge directly supports the Movember Foundation, the only global charity focused solely on men\u2019s health.<\/p>\n

The #Dadbod Challenge is a campaign in which any dad can participate. Inspired by travel selfies, #Dadbod aims to celebrate the male body in all of its forms\u2014a self-deprecating mash-up between Alicia Keys\u2019 campaign to embrace her make-up free self and the Ice Bucket Challenge from 2014.<\/p>\n

The rules of engagement are simple.<\/p>\n

    \n
  1. Don a Speedo or another outfit that shows off a dad bod<\/li>\n
  2. Snap a pic (it can be a selfie or someone else can take it)<\/li>\n
  3. Share the pic on social media with the #Dadbod hashtag<\/li>\n
  4. Tag other people to accept the #Dadbod Challenge<\/li>\n
  5. Donate to the Movember Foundation<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

    While the pictures themselves will help spread the message, the donation part is the most important step on the #Dadbod list. Since 2003, the Movember community has raised more than $710 million and has funded more than 1,200 men\u2019s health projects in 21 countries.<\/p>\n

    With this in mind, the primary goals of the #Dadbod Challenge are no different from the goal of Movember as a whole: To spark conversations and raise vital funds and awareness for men\u2019s health. By sharing pictures of our imperfect selves, dads will broaden those conversations and raising awareness in new (and admittedly sometimes ridiculous) ways. Hopefully they\u2019ll also inspire people to give.<\/p>\n

    Just hours into the campaign, my fellow father colleagues here on the Expedia Viewfinder team had\u00a0pledged their support with pictures that most certainly are worth 1,000 words.<\/p>\n

    Chris Staudinger, one half of Captain and Clark<\/a>, became a dad earlier this year and has embraced the task of fatherhood with aplomb\u2014and, apparently, a tusk.<\/p>\n

    Rick Griffin, one half of Midlife Road Trip<\/a>, has been a father for longer than Chris and I combined, which probably explains the ease with which he wields his favorite yard tool\/photo prop.<\/p>\n

    Last but not least, of course, is moi<\/em>. My wife and I welcomed our third daughter into the world about a year ago this month. Our lives are crazier than ever, but I wouldn\u2019t change a thing.<\/p>\n
