Spend 6 days soaking up the wintertime magic of Alaska. Race through the snow with sled dogs, watch the colorful dance of the Northern Lights in the night sky, cross into the Arctic Circle, and warm up in the hot springs of a geothermal resort, resting up between adventures in comfortable hotels.

Day 1: Arrival in Fairbanks & Evening Aurora Tour
Arrive in Fairbanks, the gateway to the Arctic, and check in at your hotel. Around 10 PM, set out in the direction of an aurora borealis lodge, where you can gaze up at the night sky and watch the shimmering spectacle of the phenomenal Northern Lights.

Day 2: Flight to Coldfoot & Arctic Circle Tour
Spend the morning on your own in Fairbanks, and then board a plane to fly to Coldfoot, a far-north locale located inside the Arctic Circle in the Brooks Mountain Range. Take in aerial views of the wild tundra below, and then jump in a comfortable van for the scenic drive back south to Fairbanks. Spot the Trans-Alaska Pipeline, drive along the rugged Dalton Highway, and snap pictures at the Arctic Circle sign. Cross over the mighty Yukon River and, once night falls, make frequent stops in the remote wilderness to view the aurora borealis before arriving back in Fairbanks.

Day 3: Chena Hot Springs
While away the afternoon in Fairbanks, and then set out in the evening to beautiful Chena Hot Springs, where you can soak in thermal pools as you watch the night sky for the Northern Lights. While you're there, learn about the geothermal energy that fuels the resort and tour the fantastic ice hotel on the property, where you can sip a chilled martini in a glass made of ice if you'd like.

Day 4: Train to Talkeetna, Dinner at Talkeetna Roadhouse & Aurora Viewing
Board a train for the scenic ride south to Talkeetna, gazing out at snow-blanketed river valleys and the glacier-capped peak of Denali on the way. Check out the quaint town, and fuel up over a hearty meal of homemade soup, pastries, and hot chocolate at the famous Talkeetna Roadhouse. After dinner, strap on snowshoes to trek down to the riverbank, where you can learn about the stars and watch the dark northern sky for the colorful, shimmering curtains of the Northern Lights.

Day 5: Dog Sledding & Ride to Anchorage
Fuel up over a family-style breakfast at the Talkeetna Roadhouse, and then venture out during the day to experience the ultimate Alaskan sport—dog sledding. Head into mushing country to meet the canine athletes, tour the kennels, and ride along snowy trails with a team of dogs leading the charge. Afterward, continue on to Anchorage to check into your hotel for the night.

Day 6: Alaska Native Heritage Center & Departure from Anchorage
After breakfast, head to the Alaska Native Heritage Center to learn about the major cultural groups of Alaska. Walk around authentic village sites set around a beautiful lake, and learn about cultural artifacts like a symbolic totem pole and an impressive whale bone arch. Your visit ends with a video presentation and a cup of warming tea before you part ways with your guide and group to continue your Alaskan adventure on your own.
