Description

Follow the route of the Apache Trail—a historic stagecoach route through 40 miles (64 km) of the Superstition Mountains—and delve into the wild west past of this desert region. Then, board an authentic steamboat for a scenic cruise across Canyon Lake.

Travel in a comfortable vehicle that seats no more than 14 passengers for an intimate and personal experience. The tour is fully narrated by some of the most experienced guides in the Southwest and makes frequent stops for photo opportunities at great scenic sites.

The tour begins with a ride through the Phoenix metro area, where you'll learn a bit about local history. East of the city, arrive at the rugged Superstition Mountains to snap some pictures of the range and surrounding desert. Tales of gold abound in this area, which is home to the mysterious Lost Dutchman Gold Mine. Stop at the old west town of Goldfield to experience a taste of life in the 1800s.

Next, enjoy views of beautiful Canyon Lake and detour to the historic stagecoach stop of Tortilla Flat. Your guide shares stories of pioneer life and Apache Indians. Enjoy a break for lunch on your own before boarding the Dolly Steamboat paddle-wheeler for a narrated cruise through remote canyons and scenic bays. Look carefully and you might spot desert bighorn sheep, bald eagles, and other wildlife along the way.

Please Note: This tour is NOT available on Thanksgiving/November 28, Christmas Day/December 25, New Year's Day/January 1

The guide we had, Wayne, was absolutely fantastic!! He was so knowledgeable and friendly, we felt like family during the trip. We are wanting to come back very soon, and are going to request to have him as our guide! We felt more than blessed in meeting such a wonderful soul. The sites were so amazing! Thank you so much for making this adventure a wonderful memory!! Heather Pruett

The views were unbelievable! Our tour guide Bill was so relaxed and easy going. Definitely worth the money to be picked up at our hotel and dropped off/picked up front door at each destination. It took 2 hours of city driving to pick everyone up, which reduced the amount of time at the first two stops. Would have been nice to spend more time at Goldfield.
