Hop aboard the Banff Gondola for a memorable ride to the top of Sulphur Mountain. Along the way be on the lookout for local wildlife such as Rocky Mountain bighorn sheep, golden-mantled ground squirrels, hoary marmots, and birds like Clark's nutcrackers and Canada jays.

Capture the stunning views of the 6 mountain ranges as you climb 2,292 feet (698 m) to an elevation of 7,486 feet (2,281 m) at the Summit Upper Terminal. Once you arrive at the terminal, head to the patio for impressive photo opportunities or grab a bite to eat in the café with a panoramic view of the mountains.

Choose from an array of mountaintop activities and hike several scenic trails or take a self-guided walkway to Sanson's Peak. This is where Norman Sanson is believed to have walked to the top of the mountain every week for 30 years. If you're an experienced hiker, test your skills on the trail along the ridge of the mountain that leads to Sulphur Mountain's summit.

The gondola ride in Banff is a must-do if you get the chance. It's not inexpensive, but the views from the top are the best opportunity to appreciate the mountain scenery. There are exhibits, food and a nice gift shop at the top, and an easy walk via stairs to the higher viewing platform. Parking can be tricky, so you can take advantage of the free shuttle from downtown in order to avoid the hassle. Overall, this is a great way to spend a couple of hours in Banff!
