Description

Venture into the heart of UNESCO-listed Daintree National Park to reach Cape Tribulation, home to the world's oldest tropical rainforests. Trek through Mossman Gorge to see waterfalls and wildlife, dig your toes into the sand at the beach, and cruise through the mangroves to spot crocodiles on the Daintree River.

After you're picked up from your hotel, drive in air-conditioned comfort along the Captain Cook Highway, weaving past bone-white beaches on your way to Port Douglas. Enjoy some free time to walk around the village and see Four Mile Beach, or head to the Wildlife Habitat to see some of Australia's fascinating native animals.

From there, ferry across the river and stretch your legs with a guided walk through the rainforest in Mossman Gorge National Park. Roam through the lush landscapes of the Wet Tropics, which is estimated to be more than 100 million years old and is home to 50 percent of Australia's plant and animal species.

Stop at the Alexandra Lookout to gaze over the Daintree Rainforest and spot the outline of the Great Barrier Reef, and then break for lunch at the Cape Tribulation Beach House. Spend some time relaxing and swimming at the beach before stepping aboard a river boat to cruise through the saltwater mangrove forests of the lower Daintree River. Watch for crocodiles lurking along the shore, and then begin the drive back to Cairns, stopping at the Rex Lookout for a dazzling view of the Coral Sea and the coastline along the way.

They did a very good job to cover as much as they can in a one day tour. If people want to go deep, this won’t be the one.

Well organized, tour operators were communicative in confirming scheduling and pick up, tour guide was knowledgeable and prompt. It’s a packed day but plenty of downtime on the bonus as it takes time to travel in between sites. In retrospect it would have been great to stay overnight in cape tribulation if you have the time for it
