Description

Embark on an adventure into Carara National Park, a dense rainforest surrounding the river basin of the Tárcoles, and sporting one of the largest surviving populations of scarlet macaws in Costa Rica. Explore a jungle path with a knowledgeable guide as you discover the rich ecosystem.

Get picked up from your Punta Arenas hotel or cruise terminal and travel outside the city into Carara National Park, a nearby rainforest centered around the River Tárcoles basin. Embark on a short, rolling loop trail through the forest, skirting the edge of the forest and the Tárcoles, where you have the chance to spot a multitude of crocodiles lounging along the banks.

Admire the rich mangrove forests and tidal flats at the mouth of the river, and let your guide point out the thriving population of scarlet macaws, beautiful birds rich in vibrant color and personality. Your guide helps you to fully appreciate the wide variety of plant and animal species on display. Enjoy lunch at a local restaurant to cap your adventure.
